Radeon R7 is replacement for HD 7000 series

Coinciding with Tech Day GPU14 event, AMD finally officially introduced the latest generation graphics card successor Radeon HD 7000, Radeon R7 and R9 Series. Although it will only be launched into the market in October, a number of the latest important information presented by AMD at the annual event with the location this time was in Hawaii.

AMD Radeon graphics card now consists of two series namely R9 and R7. Radeon R9 is for gamers who want the best performance on their graphics card. Meanwhile Radeon R7 is intended for gamers who want the graphics card with the best price and performance ratio. AMD has prepared five variants of graphics cards namely Radeon R7-250, R7-260X, R9-270X, R9-280X, and R9-290X. For now it is not known whether AMD will release all of these variants at once in October or gradually.

Radeon R7 250

Radeon R7 250 seems to be the cheapest variant with a selling price range below $ 89 (MSRP online). Has 1GB of GDDR5 memory. It comes with DVI-D, HDMI, and D-Sub display connectors and seems to operate without the need for an additional PCIe power connector. Radeon R7 250 is claimed to be able to produce 3DMark Fire Strike Overall Score performance above 2000 points. If we compare it with our external graphics card test database, this score is still below the Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition. But not explained the score was obtained by using what processors remember the Overall Score is influenced by the performance of the processor as well. There is a possibility that the score can still rise even higher if the processor used is not as tight as our standard test processor.

Radeon R7 260X

One level above the Radeon R7 250 comes Radeon R7 260X. Equipped with GDDR5 memory with 2GB of graphics card capacity is sold at a price range of $ 139 (MSRP online). The graphics card is equipped with DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI and Display Port connectors and has a PCIe power connector. With 3DMark Fire Strike Overall Performance Score above 3700 points, the performance of this graphics card is between Radeon HD 7790 and Radeon HD 7850 when compared to our test database. Of course there is a possibility that the score can still be even higher.
