Texas Instruments collaborates with Nullmax to launch intelligent driving solutions

During the 2024 (18th) Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the Nullmax MaxDrive intelligent driving solution, powered by Texas Instruments (TI) AM62A chip based on Arm® and TDA4 processor, made its debut. This collaboration between Texas Instruments and Nullmax in the automotive intelligence field integrates Texas Instruments' advanced processing technology with Nullmax's perception algorithms, aiming to drive innovation in forward vision integration and parking integration technology, and provide the automotive industry with smarter and more efficient driving solutions.

As intelligent driving technology leaps forward, Level 2 automated driving functions are rapidly becoming widespread, and the use of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is increasingly prevalent. Texas Instruments, as a leader in the automotive field, offers chip processing technology with outstanding performance and reliability. Meanwhile, Nullmax, as an advanced autonomous driving technology company, leverages its perception algorithms and extensive industry experience to provide high-performance solutions to automotive manufacturers. Both Texas Instruments and Nullmax are committed to leveraging their strengths to provide automotive manufacturers with more competitive products and services.

Texas Instruments has supported Nullmax in launching three intelligent driving solutions. Among them, Nullmax's 2T computational forward vision integration solution utilizes Texas Instruments' AM62A chip based on Arm®; while the 4T and 8T computational parking integration solutions utilize Texas Instruments' TDA4 processor series.

The Texas Instruments AM62A processor belongs to the Arm® Cortex® based visual processor series, adopting a System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture, supporting extensive integration. The AM62A chip integrates an Image Signal Processor (ISP) and Microcontroller Unit (MCU), enabling real-time processing and control of images captured by cameras. Meeting ASIL-B functional safety standards, the AM62A ensures the safety of automotive systems. Furthermore, the AM62A offers a rich set of on-board interfaces, including 3 channels of CAN-FD and two Gigabit Ethernet ports, meeting the data transmission and communication needs of automotive systems. This interface richness enables flexible and efficient integration with other automotive electronic systems. Additionally, the AM62A supports simultaneous processing of 2MP and 8MP camera inputs, providing vehicles with a wider perception range and clearer image resolution. This feature allows automotive systems to perceive surrounding environments more accurately in different scenarios, enhancing driving safety and comfort. With the MCU integrated into the AM62A chip, the overall system cost can be reduced by eliminating the need for an additional MCU, making the AM62A a cost-effective solution.

Furthermore, the Texas Instruments TDA4 processor series comprises dual-core Arm® Cortex®-A72 SoC and C7x DS with deep learning, visual, and multimedia accelerators. Leveraging decades of automotive and functional safety expertise, Texas Instruments designs Arm®-based processor platforms to address sensing, parallel processing, and system-level challenges. With outstanding perception capabilities monitoring the surrounding environment from multiple directions and an automotive-centric design approach, Texas Instruments optimizes power and system costs. The series integrates key functional safety features on the chip, enabling simultaneous implementation of safety-critical and non-safety-critical functions on a single device, and improves data management by combining high-speed and automotive interfaces.

The collaboration between Texas Instruments and Nullmax will bring more advanced, intelligent, and efficient forward vision integration and parking integration technology to the automotive industry. The introduction of Texas Instruments processor products not only enhances the performance and reliability of perception algorithms but also reduces the overall system cost, providing automotive manufacturers with more competitive solutions. Since the collaboration between Texas Instruments and Nullmax began, both parties have leveraged their technological advantages. The Nullmax MaxDrive intelligent driving solution launched this time is the latest embodiment of their deep empowerment. Texas Instruments will consistently work with customers to embrace future challenges and opportunities.
