It all started around 6:30 p.m. with a get-together in the Puma store right on Hackescher Markt in our beloved capital.

The occasion for the event was the very first collaboration between Puma and Hikmet Sugoer's label »Sonra« in the course of the 50th anniversary of the suede silhouette.

Our good buddy and sneaker legend Hikmet Sugoer started his own brand after leaving Solebox. The innovative Sonra stands for luxurious, in Germany handmade styles from environmentally friendly and skin-friendly production.

The eye-catching panel design also gives the slim silhouette a modern street style look and can also be rocked out after the Oktoberfest. The upper material is made of leather and can withstand one or the other beer accident.

But let's start at the beginning: After completing his studies in the shoe town of Pirmasens, the German Martin Michaeli moves to the USA for six years to gain experience in factories.

With the skills and savings he brought with him, he ventured into self-employment and founded the Mephisto company in the mid-1960s.

From the idyllic Sarrebourg in Lorraine, the now 82-year-old started selling to Germany, Austria, Benelux and Switzerland. In 1984, Michaeli opened the first Mephisto shop in Aachen. The label now offers 600 different models in more than 900 of its own shops worldwide.

In 1975, Michaeli brought the idea for Mephisto »Originals« to life and created the »Rainbow« model.
