myKarateStore.com Announces Winner of $500 Science Scholarship

Denver, CO – July 24, 2020- myKarateStore.com, an online martial arts supply store, announced the winner of their $500 Warrior Scholarship contest held this last year. Andrea Kraft, enrolled at University of Colorado, studying for a Master of Landscape Architecture, impressed the panel of judges with her commitment to training, and passion for the martial arts. Kraft writes in her moving essay, “I fell in love with martial arts fast and hard. I have never been one for traditional sports, but I have always been active – dancing, skiing, hiking. The karate felt natural from the start. It was all about the physics of human motion. How torque and gravity can multiply one’s power. How your attacker’s momentum can be taken and used against them. How beautiful (and lethal) it was when the timing was just right. I was also enamored by the traditions.” Through her Kenpo Karate training Kraft found mindfulness, community, and the value of facing her fears. myKarateStore.com created the scholarship opportunity as a way to help make college expenses more affordable for those who have chosen to pursue a degree. The panel of scholarship judges selected Kraft as the recipient of the $500 warrior scholarship based on the quality of her essay and her admirable desire to help others. She won out over several other applicants. Participants in the scholarship contest were required to hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher, as well as submit a letter of recommendation and unofficial transcript of their grades along with a 500-1000 word essay answering the question, "How has my martial arts training prepared my for my future?"
