Dental Implants - A Great Way to Avoid Full Dental Surgery

Dental implants are artificial titanium shells that are constructed on a surgical platform to look and feel like natural teeth. A dental implant is actually a medical device that interfaces directly with the patient's natural bone or jaw to support a dental implant such as a bridge, crown, denture, orthodontic cement, or even to serve as an endodontic cement anchor. Doc's Dental have gained considerable popularity and acceptance in the USA and globally over the past three decades due to their permanent solution to tooth loss and associated deficiencies. Dental Implants provide patients with a full, functional set of permanent teeth. They are generally used for tooth restoration following tooth loss or teeth replacement due to disease, trauma, and accident, or missing teeth. They are a remarkably effective treatment option for restoring missing teeth and several aesthetic benefits such as dentures that look natural, functional bite, and teeth appearance.

Titanium dental implants are a strong alloy that combines the strength of stainless steel with the hardness of titanium. The unique properties of these materials allow the implants to be built to a high-specificity specification to give the best possible outcome. Titanium implants can be utilized in dentures, crowns, and bridges, where they offer a superior strength-to-weight ratio than other materials used for the same function. Titanium materials used for dental implants are free of all defects by rigorous scientific testing. Dental implant prosthetics also offer the potential to restore function in combination with a prosthetic tooth or denture.

When a person loses a tooth or multiple teeth, the only prosthetic option available to them is a removable tooth implant. This type of prosthetic is considered to be suitable for patients who require a single replacement tooth to bridge a gap or a partial denture to replace missing teeth. However, dental implants, which consist of a single titanium abutment, are now being widely used to replace missing teeth in both patients who require a single prosthetic tooth and those who require two or more prosthetic teeth to bridge a gap. The new materials allow for dual healing of the teeth and dentures, allowing patients to resume their daily routine without having to be concerned about the difficulty of caring for a new tooth or complete denture.

Dental implants consist of a titanium abutment and the necessary jawbone to securely integrate the prosthetic into the jawbone. The titanium abutment is surgically placed into the jawbone through an incision made in the gum. Once secured, the abutment is fixed into place and the prosthetic is attached directly to the titanium frame using screws and bolts. Through this technique, patients can expect one to two weeks of healing time when the jawbone heals around the prosthetic, and up to three months for the entire jawbone to fully heal.

Because dental implants require a strong, durable material to construct, a thorough understanding of how the procedure works is important before selecting a dentist to perform the procedure. A qualified and experienced prosthodontist will perform the procedure using a standard protocol. He will first assess the situation and take a complete medical history. Next, he will evaluate the gum grafting procedure to determine the best course of treatment.

The prosthodontist will then determine the patient's eligibility based upon the severity of his condition and overall health. After determining the right procedure plan, the prosthodontist will make an appointment to meet with the patient to discuss the procedure and what is involved to prepare and recover.

Prosthodontists that perform dental implants with a success rate of ninety percent or better have earned a spot on the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry's nationwide accredited list of dentists. If you are interested in improving your smile, you need to schedule an initial visit with a dentist that has performed the procedure successfully. Remember: dentures do not get you back into shape overnight. You need a strong support system including a good dentist and a positive, proactive attitude to achieve your goals.
