Parenthood is considered one of the most sought-after virtues for a couple. However, the inability to conceive can doom a couple to a world of agony and depression. But in today's world of medical advancements, IVF is a boon for infertile couples.

IVF is defined as the procedure in which a woman's eggs are removed from her ovaries and fertilized with a man's sperm in a laboratory. It is considered an assisted reproductive technology that helps women to get pregnant through reproductive techniques.

Who can do IVF? :

When it comes to infertility problems, IVF may be an option if you and your partner have been diagnosed with any of the problems mentioned below:

  • Low sperm count
  • Ovulation problem due to conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome
  • Problems with the fallopian tubes.
  • Endometriosis
  • Poor quality egg
  • The inability of sperm to enter or survive the cervical mucus.
  • Unexplained fertility problem

What happens during an IVF process?:

During the IVF process, the eggs are removed from a woman’s ovaries and fertilized in a laboratory with sperm provided by her partner. One or two embryos are then implanted in the woman's uterus. Several stages of IVF are described as follows:

  • A woman's natural menstrual cycle is extinguished with a nasal spray or daily injections.
  • Fertility injections stimulate the ovaries, so they produce several eggs instead of one.
  • When the eggs ripen, they are collected with a fine needle.
  • These eggs are then fertilized in a laboratory with the sperm provided by the woman's partner.
  • The fertilized eggs or embryos grew in an incubator for a few days
