After the 1964 edition, which ensured the growth of the country’s economy and favored the transformation and opening up of Japan to the outside world, Tokyo will host for the second time the Tokyo 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Games “from 24 July to August 09, 2021 ”which will be the most innovative edition in the history of the Games thanks to the infrastructure and high technology integrated into the competition sites. FIVE NEW SPORTS INTRODUCED IN JO 2021
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has approved the inclusion of five games in the 2021 Olympics, namely karate, baseball, softball, sport climbing, surfing and skateboarding.

The number of Olympic Games sports has grown from nine at the first Olympic Games in 1896, to 33 to be contested at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
