As time evolved, so did the technology behind position machines. The technical items and levers of the Liberty Bell ultimately offered way to electric components and microprocessors, allowing for more complicated game mechanics and a greater selection of symbols. Bishop's Stortford might be some 20-odd hours away from Australia, but schoolchildren are getting to stay active in lockdown thanks to some I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!-inspired activities. Rather than eating creepy crawlies – or worse – and getting up close and personal with rats and snakes, more than 1,000 primary school pupils have been collecting stars by taking part in fun games put on by Kitteridge All Sports.

Director Ross Kitteridge and coach Aaron Cameron-Prior have come up with sessions to enable youngsters to work on fundamental skill sets such as throwing and catching, running and jumping and their ABC – agility, balance and coordination.
The classes are held live over the internet, with children either taking part at home or being able to follow them on a big screen if their parents are key workers and they are going into school.
"We came up with the idea of providing something a bit different to what Joe Wicks was providing. We've tried to make it a bit more interactive," said Kitteridge.
"What Joe Wicks has done is amazing, but children often enjoy something for a certain period of time and then that enjoyment might not be there.

A 50-catch challenge is among the games that have proved popular, while creative families have taken part in throwing games by, for example, trying to throw rolled-up socks into pots and pans.
"Even if people don't have the right equipment they can still take part and it's all about thinking outside the box," said Kitteridge, who is also head coach at Manuden Junior Football Club having previously worked in Arsenal's academy.
