Why are puzzles vital for kids throughout their learning process?

Kids learn and acquire many skills throughout their growth and development process. They play different games and involve in many other activities to keep themselves active and their minds alert. Parents, siblings, families, and relatives encourage children to play as much possible because it helps them generate new ideas and enhances their motor skills. Children also get the chance to explore solutions to problems and take defeat in their stride.
Kids puzzle games are an essential educational tool for toddlers and young children where they can challenge their cognitive abilities and exercise their minds. They also learn the importance of staying organized, without which puzzle pieces would not fit to form the shape, character, object, or structure. With this, they also get knowledge of the different shapes, sizes, and patterns used to complete the puzzle.
Following are the reasons why puzzles are beneficial for kids:

(i) It helps develop cognitive skills: Puzzles come in a whole range of themes and topics such as alphabet letters, shapes, vegetables, numbers, pets, transport, and colours. It boosts their visual-spatial awareness and develops a deeper understanding of these themes and topics. All children learn differently, and with the help of puzzles, they grasp an understanding of specific themes such as alphabet letters.

(ii) It enables them to solve problems: Completing even the simplest of puzzles sets a goal to achieve. Toddlers and children should think and develop strategies on their approach to achieving this goal. This process involves problem-solving, reasoning skills, and developing solutions that they can later use in their personal/adult life.

(iii) It develops motor skills: While playing puzzle games for kids, they develop and refine their motor skills. Children must pick up, pinch and grasp pieces and move them around, manipulating them into slots, sorting them and fitting them into the correct places.

(iv) Coordination of hand and eye movements: Most of the games, including musical toys for kids, encourage them to improve their hand and eye movements. They can also learn how to synchronize with the tunes and improve their hearing ability. They get the practice of recognizing different sounds and tunes, which enables them to differentiate between high and low volumes.

(v) It helps them become more social with people: Puzzles are a great way of educating children in cooperative play. While working together to complete them, they will discuss how to place pieces, take turns, and share and support each other when handling frustration. They also lean to share joys and value their opponents upon completion of the game.

(vi) It harnesses self-esteem and satisfaction: The thought of accomplishing and achieving a goal provides so much satisfaction to the child. The feeling of pride and victory after overcoming the challenges involved in solving a puzzle helps them understand the value of their struggles and hard work. It boosts their self-confidence and self-esteem for other challenges in life.
Kids musical instruments are equally helpful in developing sound differentiation and recognition. It teaches them the art of recognising and responding to different sounds without any difficulty, which prepares them for the race called ‘life.’
