Which trek is better- Sandakphu or Goecha La?

Both the treks are two wonderful trekking destinations that thousands of trekkers visit every year to get some thrilling experience. Known for their majestic views, trekking summits, and abundance of flora and fauna, Goechala Trek and Sandakphu Trek two are the most happening treks that stand out as ideal getaways to the Himalayas.

Suppose it is me to judge between the two. In that case, I will say Goecha La is the best trek to get a majestic view of Kanchenjunga and witness Kanchenjunga on an intense expedition. In contrast, Sandakphu is a scenic trail for trekkers where they think the journey is as important as the destination.

Goechala Trek

Home to the world’s highest mountains like Kanchenjunga, Goechala Trek is for those who want to challenge themselves within and almost simultaneously delights them with the richness of natural beauty around them. With exotic flora and fauna, alpine meadows, and glacier basins, Goechala in Sikkim is a gem for travelers inquisitive about seeking nature’s wonders.

Sandakphu Trek

Sandakphu trek is a brilliant trek because it offers unmatched views of the highest peaks in the world, i.e., Kanchenjunga, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, and Annapurna range. Trekking alongside Siri river and staying in the guest houses or camping is a matter of delight. The trek offers amazing views of everything you desire, from a retreat into the lap of nature: forests, waterfalls, alpine meadows, and others.

Goechala Trek v/s Sandakphu Trek

Choosing one trek among the two depends upon one's perspective because, in each place, you will definitely find something exclusive, something extraordinary. And both of these treks are indeed nature lovers' dream destinations or a trekkers' heaven.

Here is some point of variation you must check before choosing to pick one among the two.

  • Elevation: Goechala Trek is one of the high-altitude treks, and viewpoint one lies at an elevation of 4700 meters, which is relatively higher than the Sandakphu trek. Sandakphu trek lies at an elevation of 3636 meters above sea level. So the trekking route for Goechala is obviously tedious, while the Sandakphu trek is much easier.
  • Time consumed: Generally, Goechala Trek needs nine nights and ten days to complete from base camp to base camp. At the same time, the Sandakphu trek requires six nights and seven days to complete. So it is on you to choose as per your available time duration.
  • Difficulty: Goechala trek is generally more difficult as the trail is quite steep and is accessible only by walking. On the other hand trail to Sandakphu trek is moderate, and also vehicles run on the trail, making it accessible for tourists who do not want to walk.
  • Distance: Trekking distance is another factor that varies in both treks. While on the Goechala trek, you need to travel 90 kms, whereas, on the Sandakphu trek, you need to hike only for 46 kms. So choose accordingly the destination you want to trek on.

Conclusion

After choosing the trek you want to go on, just contact Glacier Treks and Adventures and book your trek to have a hassle-free trekking experience. The company is a government-registered company with experience trekking guides and a great team to let you have tonnes of beautiful memories from the trek.
