Rugby and netball also have strong support and/or playing bases at organised level. Basketball has a following, just the NBA really, but seems to attract the young for a few years before they depart the sport. The local NBL has struggled to survive, NBA dominates completely for those who follow the sport at all. Rugby has fallen away from once rivalling Rugby League, though behind, and like RL is largely confined to two states - but maybe has more of a following in the other states than RL does.
