What is the duration of the Sandakphu hike?


Sandakphu is a trekking paradise for trekkers. This is the top point in West Bengal at 11926 ft in the district of Darjeeling and offers views of the highest peaks in the world, including Everest, Kanchenjunga, Makalu, and Lhotse. The trek follows the border between Nepal and India. You will be able to travel in the direction of Nepal often throughout this trek.

Sandakphu Trek means "Height of the Poison Plant," in reference to the many poisonous Aconite plant species that thrive close to the summit. Sandakphu is considered to be the most awe-inspiring peak of the Singalila range, which is a noteworthy rise near the southern tip of a long crest which is a part of the Kanchendzonga range. It is also the point of the finish of a variety of trekking routes within Darjeeling and Sikkim.

The most stunning views of the Himalayas can be seen only at higher elevations. However, this hike is a journey through small communities that is among the most picturesquely satisfying experiences of the Himalayas. The popular "Sleeping Buddha" peak formation is a must for all visitors. A large portion of this trek route is located within the Singalila National Park.

The area is a hotspot for biodiversity located in the eastern Himalayan Mountains. It hosts the critically endangered red panda, a variety of species of birds, and stunning alpine plants, like the ever-present rhododendrons and towering bamboo, birch, fir trees, and more. Sandakphu trek is an excellent choice for those who are not familiar with trekking. This trek is appropriate for both novice and experienced trekkers.

Maneybhanjan has located about 25km from Darjeeling Maneybhanjan is the entrance into the Sandakphu region with an elevation that is 2134m. Maneybhanjang is located between Maneybhanjang and Sandakphu is around 31 kilometers from each other. The trek could take up to three days to be completed. It is possible to continue the hike beginning at Sandakphu up to Phalut or climb to Rimbik. There are a variety of options for this, and the hike can be completed in four days.
