Thermal scope as available for commercial use is not good for human temperature measurements. For medical use, specially designed scope is needed. The quality of the internal components of a thermal scope define the accuracy of the reading. However depending on the use of a scope, you should choose based on a) RANGE of temperature readings b) Ambient temperature at the time of reading c) Level of accuracy required d) Distance from which the accuracy is maintained (as distance increases, accuracy can be lost) e) Final use of the readings - If for medical then Very precise measurement is a must. If for commercial purpose such as oven temperature reading etc, a little less accuracy will be ok. However one important thing to remember is that the scope’s accuracy decreases over a period of continous use and that can cause misreadings. Hence a scope where calibration can be done against a standard source is also must have for medical use or high accuracy requirement use.
