Male Infertility can be treated in various ways. Apart from a few lifestyle changes, medications, and exercises, a proper balance in food also helps in increasing the sperm count, a major reason for infertility. Include the following foods to increasing sperm count gradually:

Fruits: Fruits such as Kiwi, Strawberries, and Guava help in increasing the motility of the sperms. These fruits are rich in Vitamin C and will help the men in gaining nutrition for the production of sperms

Dark Chocolate: L-Arginine enzyme is responsible for increasing the volume of the sperms in men. The beans that compose the dark chocolate are rich in anti-oxidants.

Green Leafy Vegetables: Folic Acid is responsible for producing healthy and motile sperms. Eating dark and leafy vegetables that are rich in folic acid helps in increasing sperm count. The vegetables include spinach, peas, lentils, kale, lettuce, sprouts, etc.

Eggs: It is no news that eggs are the best food to be consumed both by men and women. Apart from being rich only in proteins, they are also rich in Vitamin E and Zinc. These are responsible for increasing the sperm count and doubling the chances of fertilization.

Garlic: The blood supply to the male reproductive parts is very significant as it helps in the production and protection. It includes Allicin and Selenium which are reported to enhance blood circulation and also enhances sperm motility.

Walnuts: Walnuts are seen to be rich in Omega-2 fatty acids that increase the significance of the sperms

Olive oil: Including olive oil in your daily food diet helps reduce the cholesterol in the body. This in turn allows the oxygen to reach the male reproductive parts i.e., testicles. This enhances the quality and strength of the sperms.

Apart from these foods for increasing sperm count, there are foods that the males have to avoid to increase sperm count:

  • Dairy Products: When a couple is trying to conceive, keeping dairy products out of the male’s diet is a wise choice. These are reported to be decreasing sperm motility and volume of sperm production.

  • Coffee: Caffeine consumption in both males and females has resulted in lower chances of fertility. This might also lead to miscarriage in females.

  • Fried Food: Fried foods are reported to increase oxidative stress in males. This results in decreased sperm count.

Having a good understanding of what foods to ingest and what foods to avoid is seen to be having positive effects on the couples trying to conceive. Exercise daily and take a properly maintained healthy diet for improved quality of life and fertility problems.
