What is special in Kedarnath Dham?


Kedarnath Yatra is well-known as one of the Hindu Char Dham Yatra. Kedarnath Dham is situated at 3584m above sea level, close to the mouth of the Mandakini river. Kedarnath Mandir, which draws thousands of pilgrims each year, is situated in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. It is believed to be founded in the time of the Pandavas in the epic poem of Mahabharata. Adi Guru Shankaracharya conceived the present structure of the holy site.   • The Kedarnath temple has Shiva Lingam, which is adorned with the idols that represent Lord Krishna, Parvati, the five Pandavas and their wives Draupadi and Veerabhadra as one of the vehicles used by Lord Shiva Nandi as well as other goddesses and gods. The Shiva Lingam located in the Kedarnath temple is formed like an equilateral triangle. This makes it distinct from other Shiva temples that are located in the Garbha Griha temple.
