English is almost considered a universal language as it is the most popular and common language of communication in majority of countries. It is the second most spoken language in the entire world which makes it a big deal. Having this in mind, it only makes sense to learn how to communicate in English especially if you are not conversant with the language. The basics of the language include reading, writing, speaking and listening. So how can you learn English?

1. Have a drive
The first step is to actually have passion in learning the language. You need to be interested in it or have a great reason behind your learning. This step will go a long way to ensure that you get the best out of the subject since a positive mind towards the subject guarantees great results.

2. Have a clear goal on what you want
There is definitely an end goal that you plan to achieve at the end of a given period. You probably want to speak fluently in a couple of months. Set smaller targets that will lead you to the main goal. This will make it easier for you to achieve using the small milestones you have set for yourself.

3. Find English resources
The internet is full of learning material. Use this to your advantage and explore as many resources as need be so as to improve your skills. Practice makes perfect hence the more resources you expose yourself to the easier learning becomes.

4. Learn new words
The beauty of exploring a wide variety of English resources is that you are also exposing yourself to a wide variety of new words. English is about having a rich vocabulary. Learn as many new words as you possibly can. This way you are expanding your language as well as understanding it better.

5. Speak
If you want to be a good speaker, then you have to speak. You can do a lot of reading, writing and listening but only speaking will help you become a great speaker. You can try speaking to people close to you as you learn the language and advance onto professionals such as tutors. You can even use the dictionary to learn how to pronounce words that may seem a bit difficult and get accustomed to the English sounds. Do it as often as you can. You can even read out loud as daily practice to polish up on your skills.

6. Get a tutor
If you have the money for it, you should get a tutor. There are some areas in the English language that may be a bit complex hence require the intervention of a professional. If you desire to achieve an advanced level in the English language, a tutor will be the most appropriate person to help you polish up on your skills.

7. Practice makes perfect
I cannot stress this enough. Whether it is reading, writing or speaking; all these need daily practice. You are only as good as what you make of yourself. Ensure that you make that effort to make it a habit of daily practice. Once it becomes a habit, it becomes easy to do. It will simply be a routine that you follow eliminating room for mistakes.
