Uzbekistan published a RfQ as part of a tender for a solar project with a capacity of up to 300 MW 06th January 2022

Uzbekistan has published a Request for Qualification (RfQ) as part of a tender for a solar project with a capacity of up to 300 megawatts in Kashkadarya, the country's southeastern region.

The solar farm will be constructed in the Guzar neighborhood. According to the RfQ materials, interested developers have until March 30 to submit their applications.

The chosen developer will be responsible for the design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the photovoltaic (PV) park for a period of 25 years. In addition, the winner will be responsible for the construction of a 220 kV high–voltage dual circuit transmission line to an existing substation near the project site.

According to the energy ministry, the possibility of adding a battery storage component to the project will be investigated through a detailed feasibility assessment.

The project will be implemented as part of a public-private partnership initiative led by the Uzbek government and sponsored by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to deploy 1 GW of solar capacity across the country.

Uzbekistan is running a series of contracts to support its renewable energy policy, which aims to deploy up to 7 GW of solar generating capacity by 2030.
