Usually our bodies get vitamins from food or supplements

Vitamins have various functions that help regulate metabolism, prevent chronic diseases (such as heart disease and cancer) and to maintain appetite, mental health and immunity.

Vitamins can be categorized into 2 categories, namely:

Fat soluble vitamins
- Fat-soluble vitamins are vitamins A, D, E, K.
- Excess fat-soluble vitamins will be stored in the liver and will not be eliminated from the body.
Water soluble vitamins
- The water-soluble vitamins are B and C.
- Excess water-soluble vitamins are excreted through urine and sweat.
But keep in mind that processing food such as cooking it can affect the vitamin content in food. Vitamins A, C and some B vitamins can be damaged when exposed to direct sunlight, so foods high in these vitamins should be stored in a protected place from light or in the refrigerator. Vitamin C and some B vitamins are water soluble and will break down if exposed to heat so avoid washing food and overcooking it.

There are vitamins A, C, D, E, K, and vitamin B complex of which there are many types.
