Up and Coming Australian Wakeboarders to Look Out For!

Although 2020 has put a hold on many international sports competitions, it shouldn't stop us from getting excited about new talent! When international wakeboarding competitions resume, it’s going to be crazy competitive between the new generation of wakeboarders who are hungry for their first championships. Here are a few up and coming Australian wakeboarders to look out for!

Zahra Kell

Despite being only 17 years old, Zahra is set to make history as one of the youngest and daring female wakeboarders to ever compete in the sport. Already ranked second according to the WWA’s 2020 World Ranking: Women, Zahra is a Sydney-born Australian to be proud of. Zahra has been wakeboarding since the tender age of 7, when she became the youngest female to land an invert on a wakeboard, and has since won the IWWF Girls World Champion in 2015 and IWWF Jr. World Champion in 2017.

Zahra entered into the pro division at Moomba Masters when she was 12 years old in 2016 and is looking to continue her career and ramp up an impressive storm on the waves. Most recently, Zahra finished first in the Australian Nationals in 2019, second in 2019’s Australian Open #2 and fifth at the Moomba Masters also in 2019. Zahra mainly competes in Australia, but is soon looking to establish worldwide wakeboarding dominance.

Cobe France

Another young Australian wakeboarder is Cobe France, who is currently 21 years old. Having begun his professional wakeboarding career in 2017, Cobe is one to watch out for, having made an incredible debut by finishing second in the Australian Open #1. In his first year of professional wakeboarding alone, Cobe competed in twelve championships alone around the world, demonstrating his passion and dedication for the sport.

Cobe currently ranks 6th according to the WWA World Ranking: Men for 2020 and is only just getting started. Daring to join the ranks with established Australian wakeboarders like Nic Rapa, Harley Clifford and Cory Teunissen, Cobe is a young wakeboarder who has a lot of potential and years of competitive wakeboarding ahead of him.

Elliot Digney

Aged 20, Elliot is a young Australian wakeboarder who is already starting to make waves in the wakeboarding scene since beginning his professional career in 2017. Before making his way to the professional league, Elliot became the WWA Jr. National Champion in 2016 and was also the first rider to ever land a Double-Flip in competition at the Jr. Pro Men division.

Although his debut was not the most impressive, Elliot made headlines as one of the youngest wakeboarders to claim first place at the Masters LCQ in 2018. Elliot also placed 4th at the Australian open #2 and 6th at the TNT Wakefest in the same year. In recent times, Elliot has also mainly been competing in Australia, earning promising results at the Action Sports Games and Moomba Masters in 2019. Elliot is just getting started when it comes to his wakeboarding career and through his persistent appearances at recent wakeboarding competitions, is definitely a youngster to look out for in the watersport scene.
