Now this is a game that has long been strenuously reviled by many, it sees you playing as the mighty guardian of the universe beating the life bar out of a colourful array of invading monsters who aren't interested in small talk and who look like they're either coming from outer space, or the wardrobe of a campy B-movie, with one even looking a whole lot like goofy 80s alien character Alf! I see the game's faults like anyone plain as day, it's a game that's virtually all faults after all, but I still have a soft spot for it, I owned a copy once about twenty three years ago for my Super Nintendo and I thought it was fun to play and I got pretty good at using the sluggish control system and I even managed to complete it one time only! I liked the awesome music and the cheesy fun tone of the wrecked city landscape as well as Ultraman's hilarious battle grunts. It's very evocative of that good old fashioned ginormous kaiju on the rampage thing, and kind of feels like you're in one of those crazy old rubber suit monster movies... It is a drudge of a fighting game and probably not the best portrayal ever of the Japanese superhero icon, but I still find that the style of it makes me smile and I'd say to give it a shot if it looks like your type of thing, you got nothing to lose, and I did say if! I had fun with this game. X
