The Minneapolis Police Department is among the most significant law enforcement agencies in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It is also the third-largest police agency in Minnesota Neal Kwatra. Formed in eighteen 67, it's the eighth-oldest civil law police bureau in America, after just the Saint Paul Police Department which formed in 18 1954. This unit now has three squadrons that can be found at the southern border of Lake Calhoun. These squadrons are supplemented by a single canine that is designated as the town's best canine. The puppy that serves as the town's best canine is eighteen years old and is trained in both police work and search and rescue. They're also highly trained search and rescue team members.

Another type of specialized patrol car is the car. This is normally utilized by patrol units on a regular basis, when public safety isn't a problem or when personal safety is not an issue. The Minneapolis Police utilizes these automobiles to serve their warrant assistance, at night, on expressways or major highways where investigative activity is conducted.
