Lots of people tend to only wear suits to weddings or at the office. The reality is that you can actually wear a suit (or just a blazer) in several occasions and without feeling blazers.
To make that happen, however, it's important to know a few key rules.
If you have a black blazer, try wearing only when you are dressing up.
Shinier materials tend to be a bit dressier, so, if you want to wear jeans and don't want to wear a tie, try going with cotton or linen blazers
Casual suit jackets:
Most linen and cotton suits can be worn on their own. Try looking for a nice pair of dark jeans that match your blazer. As I mentioned, stay away from standalone black blazers. If you want a casual look you can also lose the tie and keep the first 2 buttons of your shirt unbuttoned. When wearing jeans and no tie, do not wear sneakers or you will end up mixing too many different styles. You can definitely wear a pair of flat sneakeers but find a casual tie (maybe a skinny tie) to go with that outfit. In other words, try to keep the balance between dressy and casual. If you have a slim build then your blazer should be fitted. Also, try to stay away from double breasted blazers when wearing jeans or no tie.
Dress Suits:
Many people tend to associate wearing a suit with a special event or boring corporate dress code. Turns out that they are wrong. You can find suits in any color and material you want nowadays. When you wear a suit you also get to match shoes, shirt tie and a pocket square (handkerchief).
This is nothing too complicated. First off, choose a suit that properly hugs your body (i.e. slim fits for guys with slim build) and in case you are in between sizes, choose the tighter size. Colors and materials are at your discretion and the great thing is that matching is not even that hard. As long as the colors that you are matching have the same saturation, they tend to match. Try to match a pastel color.
