Things to Consider Before Getting a Digital Pressure Gauge

The Digital Pressure Gauge is an instrument that is available with a myriad of options. And for a consumer it becomes really difficult to get the one of their choice as per personal requirements and specifications. Here are a few tips for your benefit: Intelligent digital instrument

Check Accuracy Quotient of Digital Pressure Gauge

The first and foremost thing to look for while getting a digital gauge is to look for accuracy in terms of percentage of the full-scale range. Of course this varies as per industry requirements. For test gauges and standards it is 0. 25% through 0. 10% full scale accuracy, for critical processes it is 0. 5% full scale accuracy and for general industrial processes, it is 1. 0% accuracy. Again for less critical commercial uses the accuracy should be 2. 0%. However, it is recommended that you refer to ASME B40. 100 or the DIN specifications to avail more information on accuracy.

Look Out For Case Style / Material in Your Digital Pressure Gauge

It is always better to check the material of the digital gauge you buy. This is in fact a necessity to cross check if it gels with the ambient atmosphere it is going to work in. Consider the environment where you are going to make it work- factors like temperature, air-borne particulate, condensation, humidity, water and chemicals, all of which can affect gauge performance. Therefore get one that is weatherproof/hermetically sealed or liquid filled.

Decide the Dial Size of Your Digital Pressure Gauge

Considering the dial size of the digital gauge is as important as deciding the material used to encase it. It is to be mentioned that dial sizes range from 11/2" to 16" diameters. For your benefit, it is always better to look out for readability requirements, space limitations and required gauge accuracy to determine the right dial size. Generally, accuracies of 0. 25% or 0. 5% have dial sizes of 41/2" or larger, as this is the pre-requisite of these gauges.
