Perhaps you have been married for a long time or just recently, married, when you find out you are expecting, you are both filled with a flood of emotions. You feel happy, sad, scared, thrilled, worried, and in disbelief. When a couple finds out they are expecting a bundle of joy, it may be a blissful event, but for first time parents, it can be very nerve wrecking.

Let's face it, perhaps you have never considered yourself the type to have a baby and here you are with a human life growing inside of you. Obviously, carrying a baby for nine months is a miracle in and of itself, but the true miracle is how it changes the parent's lives before the baby ever makes his or her entrance into the world. For instance, you begin planning, choosing names, getting a nursery ready, thinking about a college fund, and wondering if you will be a good parent.

Of course, you probably have a lot of fears and have already begun to purchase all the a course in miracles books you can get your hands on because when this is your first child, you are determined to do it right. However, all the books in the world can teach you how you will feel when it comes to being a first-time parent. For most people parenting does come rather natural as far as the nurturing part, but some areas of parenthood, you probably will learn along the way. When you have a baby, you have a crash course in parenthood and hands-on training that no book can give to you.

For the woman, one of the things to remember about pregnancy is that you are going to be going through many different emotions, which can be triggered by fluctuating hormones while you are pregnant. For the fathers, the emotions may not be hormonal, but many men go through the same mood changes as their wives, which is phenomenal. Men that are very much part of the expecting mother's life during the conception to the delivery of their baby often goes through many of the same symptoms that their wives do.

Whether you are expecting your first baby or third, the excitement is always the same, but with first children, there is more anxiety about making sure everything goes smoothly during the pregnancy and after the birth of the baby. Remember, that for some mothers and fathers the whole experience is very rewarding but at the same time overwhelming because they want to make sure they do everything right.
