The thought of turning back the call on ageing

The thought of turning back the call on ageing by tricking your system into believing it is altitude training while you’re sitting comfortably inside a leather armchair seems too good to get true, right?

Improved pores and skin tone, fewer wrinkles, additional energy, better concentration, enhanced sleep and, in most of these worrying coronavirus times, a stronger health, are just a some of the benefits offered by spotty hypoxia-hyperoxia therapy. I’ve always shied from the invasive anti-ageing skin cures – Botox, fillers and facelifts are not really for me. But, during 53, I feel I really could do with a helping hand at looking and feeling the younger. So the fact that IHHT is totally natural piqued my fascination.
There’s no preparation, in addition to avoiding a big meal right before treatment, and I get the Cell Clinic, just simply off London’s Harley Lane, feeling a little nervous about what lies on.

I needn’t have apprehensive. Dr Ursula Radloff, who at 67 can be a fantastic advert for IHHT, using barely a line at her face and lots of of energy, sits me in the reclining leather armchair with a cup of herbal tea in front of a huge photograph involving Mont Blanc, the mountain my shape will think it’s climbing during the next few days regarding treatments.

Next to me is often a large white cube with neon flashing lights, which turns out becoming a state-of-the-art oxygen compressor, plugged suitable tablet containing my plan of seven 40-minute treatments to regulate and monitor my breathable oxygen saturation and record my heart levels. At every session I’ll inhale oxygen in different concentrations via a clear rubber mask wired around the compressor.
It’s billed as the most relaxing gym workout you may experience, effortlessly increasing your exercise while reducing your susceptibility to illness with a cellular level.

As the mask is strapped on Personally i think claustrophobic, as if I’m planning to go under anaesthetic. That oxygen machine chugs away, sounding not dissimilar to a generator, and we commence with low oxygen (hypoxia) intended for five minutes, followed by way of three minutes of excessive oxygen (hyperoxia). Normal oxygen intake is around 21 per cent although this push-and-pull pattern percieves me endure hypoxia at 11. 5 per nickle (equivalent to climbing 4, 900 metres) before moving over to hyperoxia at 34 percent.

I notice the atmosphere inside mask at low levels is compared to being at the top of an alpine ski run – neat, crisp and fresh – as the increased oxygen level by contrast is like walking through Singapore. It’s warmer and more humid, the mask being infected with with each breath.
