Getting better at Valorant takes time and commitment. But understanding how your rank works helps you maximize the investment.

Your RR (Rank Rating) is one of the most important numbers in the game. It’s the score that you never see, and it determines how many ranked wins or losses affect your overall rating.
Ascendant

The ascendant, or rising sign, is the astrological sign that was highest on the eastern horizon at the moment of your birth. It is the first house of your natal chart and it represents how others perceive you. It also shows your initial reactions to a variety of situations. It can shed light on your attitude, appearance and demeanour.

The planet that rules your ascendant is considered to have particular importance in the natal chart. This is called the chart ruler and it “sets the tone” for the rest of the chart. The planet that sits closest to the ascendant is called the planetary lord and it is said to have an even greater influence over your life.

However, it is important to note that the ascendant does not move in a direct line with the sun’s position at the time of your birth. This is because the sun travels along the ecliptic and moves in an elliptical path around the earth. As a result, the ascendant function changes in length at different latitudes.

Moreover, the ascendant will not be the same for each new Episode of Valorant as it resets every time a new Act begins. This means that you may have a different ascendant for each Episode depending on how many placement matches you played.

For example, if you have an Aries ascendant but your ruling planet is in Scorpio, you will respond to situations differently to someone with a Sagittarius ascendant and Jupiter in Leo. This is because the ascendant will be affected by what other planets are in the sky at the time of your birth and how they interact with the ascendant sign.
Immortal

Achieving Immortal rank is one of the highest ranks in a player’s career. It’s reserved for those who have a lot of skill and spend a lot of time grinding in the ranked ladder. Getting into the top ranks takes a long time, and it’s not easy to maintain.

If a player isn’t able to play competitive matches within 14 days, their rank will decay behind the scenes. This means that your MMR will drop slightly, causing you to move down the ranks or even into a different tier. However, this doesn’t apply if your team forfeits a game.

The current ranking system in VALORANT is made up of nine tiers of rank, from Iron to Radiant. Each tier is further divided into three sub-ranks. The order of these tiers is Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Ascendant.

In addition to the tiers, there are also restrictions on how you can queue up with players in the same rank. Those in higher ranks can only be matched with those in lower ranks, while players in their placement games cannot join parties with those in the top two ranks.

Riot has introduced Acts and Episodes to track a player’s progress in a specific season of ranked matches. At the end of each Episode, a badge is awarded to players equal to their top Act Rank. This is shown on their player card in ranked games and can be viewed in their career history. RR gains/losses have also been adjusted to depend more on match results and less on exact round differential. This means that if you play poorly, you’ll still earn a small amount of RR for each loss.
Radiant

If you want to become a master of the game, you must climb the ranks. The ranked ladder in Valorant is like the ladder in most competitive games, where your performance determines your rank. In a ranked match, the game pairs you against other players with similar performance. The system is based on your hidden number called MMR (Matchmaking Rating).

There are 25 ranks in ranked Valorant, and each rank has three tiers except for Radiant. Typically, most players start at the Iron rank, but their performance in placement matches can help them skip several levels and even reach Radiant. However, this doesn’t mean that you should focus on the rank badges more than improving your gameplay and practicing.

Once you’ve reached a certain level in ranked Valorant, you will earn a rank badge, which is displayed on your profile and can be seen by other players. The badge will display your current rank and the number of wins you have. When you reach a higher rank, you will gain a number of Rank Points (RR) that you can use to improve your performance. The RR you gain or lose is determined by the outcome of your matches, but it also depends on your performance at previous ranks and other factors.

At the end of each Act, you will be placed in a new rank based on your performance in the placement matches. For every act, you must play five placement games to be placed. However, for acts 2 and 3, you will only need to play one placement game.
Gold

Most of the gold in the Earth's crust is found as a free element or mixed with silver (as in electrum) or other metals, or as inclusions within minerals like pyrite and sulfide ores. It also occurs as nuggets or flakes, and rarely in masses large enough to be seen, in quartz veins, or in alluvial deposits.

Because of its inertness, low melting point, and high electrical conductivity (71% that of copper), gold is commonly used for electrical contacts and terminals, as coinage, in dentistry and medicine, and as a reflective coating on windows to reduce solar energy gain and light pollution. Thin films of gold can reflect up to 98 percent of incident infrared radiation, making it useful for satellites and space-suit visors.

Gold is extremely resistant to oxidation and most of its chemistry involves state +3. It is also one of the most noble, or least reactive, of the transition metals and does not react with oxygen or sulfur, although it can be reduced in aqua regia. Its stability is partly due to the fact that the electrons in its d orbitals are farther from the nucleus than for most other metals, resulting in longer electron-electron distances and smaller bond strengths.
Silver

Silver is where new players start. It's earned by winning Competitive games and contributing to your Act Rank over time. Placement games don't count towards this.
