Mumbai Mirror revolves around Abhijeet Patil, a hardcore action packed cop, who can neither tolerate violence against women nor crime in his area. He comes across a drug racket led by Shetty, who runs several bars in the city. One of the dancers, Rani, knows Abhijeet well and seduces him. She keeps using him under Shetty's directions without realizing that Abhijeet is not the usual cop they were thinking him to be. But soon, a lot of players get involved in this game: a game that takes various twists and turns, with most of them against Abhijeet. But he's sharp enough to fight it out, all alone. With the help of Jia, a reporter from Mumbai Mirror and his colleagues, Abhijeet sets out on a rampage that takes various paths with various turns leading to the final showdown : which can be won by nothing but by checkmating the opponent.
A cop tries to expose a drug racket run by a goon who considers himself a king. But occasionally strange turns change the game and the lives of the players involved in it.

Cop films are the basic ones of Bollywood. Usually an actor, who has become a mass hero, wears the khaki and does what every "mass hero-like" cop has to do: fighting, "dialoguebaazi", romance, and turning the tables on the villain. But very few are those who do such cop films to be one a mass hero, before they have become one. Many fail, many succeed. But if they work, they just work. Sachiin Joshi too has tried to portray a mass hero-like cop in his action thriller MUMBAI MIRROR, in which he plays a cop who does not just what every "filmy" cop does, but also something that usual ones don't do.

MUMBAI MIRROR is a realistic actioner that comes with pretty cools accessories in it: action, crime, drama, romance and of course, thrill. This film might appear a regular one from its synopsis. But once you watch it, you realize that it's something you have and you haven't seen before. Director Ankush Bhatt has placed thrills at right moments without disclosing any hint to them. This is what takes the cake, if not complete, then at least more than half of it. From beginning to end, there are several twists and turns that create a mystery which even you would like to solve. This is at least better than the film's promote as thrillers by their directors, but when you start watching them, they turn out to be drama films indeed. Ankush deserves a pat on his back for not doing this.

Sachiin Joshi carries the film on his shoulders. He looks dashing as a cop willing to uproot crime from his land. His dialogue delivery and fighting skills are likely to work among a major section of audiences, especially the mass audiences. Prakash Raj is though in a similar role to what he played in Wanted and Singham, yet he is entertaining. Heroines Vimala Raman and Gihani Khan have nothing much to do, except for entertaining the hero, and indirectly, the viewers. Sudesh Berry and Mahesh Manjrekar are good. Prashant Narayanan deserves a special mention for his performance though his role isn't too big enough.

The story might appear simple, but it's the screenplay that is a major plus. The film ends on an unpredictable note and leaves you completely satisfied. The visual effects are good for a film like this. The action of the film is its biggest plus point. The fights are choreographed and executed very well. The music is however, average barring a few songs. The editing is good, but still it could have been even better. The cinematography is good and the locations are good.

Overall, MUMBAI MIRROR is a well made and well plotted film that deserves to be watched, really. Despite of the number of times having watched cop films, yet it never looks like a deja vu. It looks real, and that's why, it's a complete mass entertainer. Director Ankush Bhatt was so overstressed to do something new that he even preferred to disclose the suspense of a suspense and crime film before it actually builds up, with the help of taking and actors expression. He fails to keep the suspense and thrill moving. Story is good but due to bad screenplay and direction it looses it's impact. They started with Dhobi Ghat fight sequence where main actor Inspector Patil , played by Sachin Joshi, got injured on his backbone doing silly stunts. They tried to focus on back injury but after some while they left it. They used chess as metaphor which is too old for now a days. A line in background score "DUM PE LAKDI.." was perfect for a fun film but they used it in a serious film and on serious note. A CBI officer tries to forcefully speak in filmy ,Bihari, illiterate person like accent, which is very irritating. This film needed badly a star. With a new face content should be star, which is not here. Plot of Dance bar, drugs and Mafia is so old. The old way of making two gangster's fight with themselves by creating confusion between them by lead actor, is very old also. Performance wise Sachin Joshi has good body, flat abdomen, flat expression and flat dialogue delivery. He has veteran like Prakash Raj (Shetty), Mahesh Manjrekar (Gaitonde) and Prashan Narayan (Inspector Manish) in front of him. They are master in their acting skills. He has to learn a bit with just watching them act. Nothing to say about female actors. An actor , who played Inspector Pawan's role is fairly good. Music is good. Especially a love track Marjawan and an item no. "ISHAQ ME DIL KO SURRENDER MAT.." have the potential to became chart buster. After all, anyhow it just touches the average line.
