The moment Chase Headley knew he wasn’t the hero

Chase Headley never has felt worse rounding the bases.
While the Stadium crowd stood http://www.officialredssale.com/chris-heisey-jersey-c-1_28.html and cheered and he received congratulations at home plate from teammates, the Yankees third baseman had a feeling his go-ahead, three-run home run in the sixth inning wasn’t going to stand.
“I thought it was foul,” he said following the Yankees’ final game before the All-Star break. “I was stopping to come back [to the plate].”
Headley sensed right.
After a replay review of his towering shot into the second deck down the right-field line, the call was reversed to a foul ball.
Instead of a one-run lead and his fifth home run of what has been an up-and-down season for the veteran infielder, the Yankees still trailed by two, and three pitches later, Headley struck out against former Mets reliever Carlos Torres. The Yankees failed to score in the frame — Clint Frazier flew out to shallow right field and Ji-Man Choi struck out — and couldn’t muster anything over the final three frames http://www.rd-corp.com/reggie-jackson-jersey-c-1_23.html either, falling to the Brewers 5-3 Sunday afternoon.
“That’s one of those things that’s really deflating,” left fielder Brett Gardner said.
“It sucks when you’re running around the bases and you know it’s a foul ball,” said Headley, who had two hits and drove in a run. “Ball’s an inch foul. It goes 1 inch the other way, we’re winning the game. But didn’t.
“It’s tough. You’re trying to have a good at-bat. [But] that didn’t affect the rest of it. It’s two strikes, he made a good pitch.”
The reversed home run was symbolic of the lost day for the Yankees, who went an anemic 1-for-16 with runners in scoring position. As a result, they failed to win a series for the eighth consecutive time, and remained 3 ¹/₂ games behind the Red Sox in the AL East while falling into a second-place tie with the red-hot Rays.
“I thought when I hit it up it was going Nick Martin Authentic Jersey to stay fair,” Headley said. “It hooked a lot more than I thought it was going to.
“I was hoping I misread it, and it was fair. But I had a pretty good feeling it was foul.”
