The Midtown Manhattan Experience

Thanks in part to the ladies of Sex and the City New York and Manhattan in particular have gained much popularity worldwide, as most of the locations shown were genuine Midtown Manhattan locations, not that the Big Apple actually ever suffered from low publicity.

Dubbed the 'city that never sleeps' New York and especially Midtown Manhattan has so much going on that it is no wonder the city never seems sleeps. Home to the famous Rockefeller Centre, Broadway and Times Square, Midtown as it is normally referred to, is also home to the city's tallest building, the world renowned Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building. Midtown is bursting with some of the finest hotels and restaurants such Ruby Foo's, Planet Hollywood Restaurant and Bar to name a few and also boasts of having New York's largest central business district.

Midtown is a hub of activity as it also has the famous paradise for shoppers, Fifth Avenue home to such giants as Saks and Tiffany, Sixth Avenue and the core of American Theatre which is Times Square. Times Square is unique in that it is the only neighborhood that has a zoning ordinance that requires building owners to display illuminated signs. The annual New Year's Eve ball drop has been maintained since 1907 with the ball symbolizing New Year's Day.

The Museum of Modern Art is the place for modern and contemporary art by world celebrated artists. Visitors can feast upon painting and sculpture galleries and exhibitions that can be found around Midtown. Further the movie fanatic is in for a treat as there are many unique commercial free and hassle free movies available at Independent Movie Theatres in Midtown Manhattan.

Madame Tussauds is also based in Times Square, which is an attraction children enjoy the most as they can pose for pictures with favourite 'stars' and hopefully fool friends back home into thinking that they had been up close and personal with the stars. Another place on interest for children would be the Museum of Television and Radio which is on the 5th Avenue and 53rd Street and has a great collection of vintage media.
