A student filmmaker sets out to document veteran marathon runner and Long Beach native, Paul Fetscher, in his forty-second New York Marathon with the goal of capturing the fundamental essence of endurance running. Hurricane Sandy as well as life's unpredictability take this film on a new path, leading to an exposition on human perseverance. The first version of The Lost Marathon was screened at Truth Be Told, the New School University's annual festival for graduates of their Doc Studies program. The film was then expanded upon and re-worked to the version shown here. Executive Director and Editor, Courtney Kistler, used a Panasonic HMC 150 video camera to film in New York City and Long Beach, and a GoPro HERO 2 camera to film in the Rocky Mountains of Montana. The film was edited on Avid Media Composer 6.5. Courtney moved back to the Midwest in September 2013, after spending nearly 10 years in New York City. She currently works for the University of Michigan in video production and has recently finished her second documentary.
