ProHydrolase

Using whey protein as a supplement is a common option for active adults to aid in muscular growth and recovery. After whey protein has been digested, it breaks into smaller pieces of peptides before being converted into amino acids. These amino acids are consumed by the intestine. To be efficient, whey protein needs to be broken down into a smaller particle size within approximately 90 minutes following consumption, otherwise protein goes undigested and excreted from the body.

Enzymes are biological molecules, are principally proteins that naturally occur within the body. They aid in the breakdown of proteins. They act as catalysts to the biochemical reactions occurring within the body, improving the speed of the reaction and aiding digestion. Our body produces proteases (enzymes) on itself to digest protein. If whey protein isn't broken down into its smallest components by these proteases, it remains within the digestive tract for an extended period, which causes discomfort such as cramping, bloating, nausea, pain etc. The enzymes are supplied by protease supplementsthat aid in digestion.

ProHydrolase which is a trademark registered of Deerland Enzymes, Kennesaw, USA is a product that is a mix of enzymes that improve the digestion and absorption of proteins which increases the bioavailability. ProHydrolase is part of the Nutritionscam whey protein series to ensure that protein is absorbed to the maximum to get more benefits.

ProHydrolase is also being studied in a clinical study with two phases. Researchers gave 20 participants (aged between 19 and 35 with normal healthy BMI) proHydrolase-infused whey protein for nine days and the protein alone for nine days. Researchers discovered that total amino acid concentrations increased by 55 mg after the ProHydrolase and Whey protein were combined, more in comparison to the whey-only supplement. In other words - using ProHydrolase and whey protein together provided 20% more amino acids than taking whey protein on its own.

The other advantages of adding Prohydrolase to Whey Protein are:

Absorption of BCAAs is increased from whey protein

Once the glycogen stores within your body are utilised to provide you with the energy required for exercise, Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) or the protein's building blocks are utilized to fuel. BCAAs being essential amino acids are not naturally produced by your body, but are got from diet.

Leucine, isoleucine and valine constitute BCAAs and these are crucial to both hard exercise as well as endurance athletes. They are well-known for reducing fatigue in endurance and anaerobic sports.

Adding BCAAs around your exercise routine can reduce muscle loss, aids in muscle recovery and builds up on protein that is needed for the synthesis of muscle.

The blood level of proHydrolase in combination with Whey Proteins is increased by 5% when in comparison to only whey proteins and leucine is an essential BCAA.

Leucine regulates blood glucose levels and helps repair and grow tissues in the muscles of the skeletal, bone, and skin. Valine helps to grow and repair of muscle tissue and preserves glucose usage. When ProHydrolase and whey are combined, blood levels of valine increase by 11%.

Absorption of other amino acids in Whey protein:

Threonine plays a crucial role in the formation of collagen and elastin (connective tissues). It's involved in liver functions and also maintains the immune system. It also assists in the absorption of other nutrients. The level of threonine in blood is raised by 6% with ProHydrolase.

The amino acid arginine is an excellent nitrogen retainer that is required for protein synthesis. It boosts the immune response. It increases the production of growth hormone and plays a role in the release of insulin. The amount of Arginine in the blood rises by 2.5 times (60%) when whey is combined with ProHydrolase in comparison to eating only whey.

Methionine is an ingredient which helps eliminate harmful wastes. It helps in the maintenance and regeneration of the liver and kidney. The level of methionine in blood is raised by 6 percent when you use ProHydrolase.

Glutamine is an alkali and acid-base balancer enzyme that can help to reduce the amount of lactic acid (a product of anaerobic training). ProHydrolase helps in increasing the amount of glutamine in blood by 28 percent.

Phenylalanine is a precursor for tyrosine. It enhances the ability to learn, mood and alertness. There is 9% increase in the blood level of phenylalanine after adding ProHydrolase in Whey.
