The highest level of combat for combat in Runescape Classic was 123. The calculation of RS gold combat did not change with the Runescape 2 change. The highest level of combat was increased to 126 since prayer was considered more. The calculations did not favour the use of magic or ranged less or more. However, they were in the actual system of combat.

The classes ranged and magic were introduced. Since the update of spring 2004 until the spring of 2005 magic and ranged were given armors of the highest quality and also various attacks (i.e. The Ancient Magicks Spell Book, that provides protection against melee prayer ), more access to runes, arrows and other beneficial options. The classes gained strength and were capable of competing against the melee classes.

The calculation was similar. That means that a maximum magician or ranged player (let's take 99 defense and 99 ranged/maged) could be between levels 100 and buy OSRS gold 110 and a melee player with a maximum level could be at or around level 120. These numbers do not include prayer or hitpoints therefore they are just estimates. This gives Ranged and Magic players an advantage over Melee in PvP situations.
