For those of you who know us, you will know how much we love all things Christmas. From a young age, our parents made Christmas extra special by decking the house (inside and out) with endless amounts of Christmas decorations and lights. They introduced numerous Christmas traditions that we've carried on to this day. One of our favorite traditions was wearing matching Christmas pyjamas on Christmas Eve, a tradition that has become even more cherished as we've grown older.

Dental restoration is the medical term that describes tooth restoration. Dental restoration is a set of procedures that are aimed at repairing and improving the health of the person's mouth. Dental restoration aims to make the dental health of the patient as optimal as is possible. Dental restoration aids patients in restoring missing teeth and improve their self image. Dental restoration can be classified into three categories Three categories are: Dental Implants (or Dental Crowns/Crowns) Teeth Whitening and Dental Implants.

Dental Implants are the most well-known and widely used procedure that allows patients to replace missing teeth. Dental Implants consist of two major components. The first is a screw implanted into the jawbone. The second is a false tooth, or implant rod. The screw is inserted into the jawbone, and the implant rod is secured by a metal crown. As a medically necessary procedure dental implants are covered by general dental insurance.

Dental Crowns/Crowns are constructed from either biological materials like porcelain or bone, and materials like ceramic or plastic. By cradling, the crown is bonded to the jawbone. The crowns and dental implants serve as tooth holders and bring the tooth closer to the jawbone while keeping it there. The bonding of the crowns and implants to the jawbone creates a protective layer that prevents further gum disease and decay.

Teeth whitening, also known as bleaching teeth is a cosmetic procedure that addresses discolored or yellow teeth. Teeth can become stained from regular consumption of tea, soda, coffee, or drugs such as aspirin. This can result in people visiting the dentist to seek teeth whitening. The treatment involves applying bleaching agents to the teeth or applying a gel to the tooth that gradually lightens the color. These methods work well for yellow teeth however, they are not suitable for brown or dark teeth.

Root canal therapy is another procedure that can be carried out. It is also referred to as tooth extraction. A tooth must be extracted when it has developed an abscess or a hole and the pulp of the tooth is infected. This procedure can be carried out by a dentist as an elective procedure, or if there are indications of oral cancer. Root canal therapy involves using an antiseptic mouthwash and freezing the root canal and then removing the tooth and surrounding tissues. Finally, the sterilized solution is used to close the abscess, or hole. A temporary tooth is normally inserted to replace the lost tooth during the procedure of root canal treatment.

On top of the teeth that are damaged On top of the damaged teeth, porcelain veneers, or dental crowns are applied. They are made of porcelain and resemble natural teeth. Dental crowns are permanently bonded to the teeth's front surfaces which means they cannot be removed easily. If other treatments fail, the dentist may decide to crown the tooth affected.

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth. Implants are surgically placed into the jawbone . They cannot be removed later. Dental implants help to restore oral hygiene by providing a sturdy support structure for chewing muscles. Porcelain veneers, made from the same materials as ceramic crowns, are fixed to the front of the teeth in order to make them impossible to remove. Another technique used to cement enamel onto teeth is called dental bonding. It makes cement more durable and lasts longer.

To safeguard the pulp tissue of teeth, dental fillings may be used. The teeth are covered by dental fillings or temporary tooth caps to guard them from infection and to keep teeth from decay. Dental fillings can be made of porcelain or amalgam, depending on the patient's needs. Another method used in periodontal cosmetic dentistry is dental bonding. Bonding agents are used to alter the color of the tooth's surface to match the filling.
