Atopy is what people call allergic constitution. The symptoms vary from person to person. Some patients may show intolerance to milk powder in infants and young children, with diarrhea
嬰兒皮膚過敏 and bloody stools; some may develop respiratory symptoms such as allergic rhinitis and asthma; some may be intolerant to pollen and experience itchy eyes when the season changes; Others develop an eczematoid rash, or two or more of the above conditions may occur simultaneously.
1. Selection of milk powder
Blood in the stool is a sign of intolerance to cow's milk protein, and the symptoms are getting worse. It is recommended to stop breastfeeding and switch to special milk powder feeding, such as deeply hydrolyzed milk powder or amino acid milk powder. After choosing the right milk powder, the bleeding in the stool usually stops in 2 to 3 days.
Generally speaking, breastfeeding is recommended without special circumstances because colostrum contains immunoglobulins, which can enhance the baby's immunity. However, if there is severe atopic dermatitis, and blood in the stool and diarrhea continue to worsen, it is recommended to change the milk powder decisively, because at this time, the benefits of breast milk are no longer as great as the negative impact of "eczema" and blood in the stool on the child's body.
2. Long-term use of moisturizing emollients
Moisturizing emollients are the most basic treatment and should be used regardless of the severity of the symptoms, even on areas without symptoms. There are also requirements on dosage. Children of different months and ages have specific dosage requirements. Insufficient dosage will lead to a decrease in barrier defense function and make the disease more likely to recur.
3. Choice of external medications
It is not enough to use moisturizers to care for your skin. People with severe skin damage also need to rely on hormonal drugs to control inflammation. Even infants and young children with severe cases can use hormonal ointments such as mometasone furoate to quickly control symptoms. Hesitation will only lead to the condition getting worse, and even complications such as infection and systemic symptoms such as fever. After the rash is controlled, gradually change the intensity of the topical medication, and finally transition to tacrolimus or pimecrolimus cream for maintenance. Remember not to stop taking the medicine immediately, otherwise it will be easy to relapse.
