The schedule for the 2022 Asia Cup has been released, with the opening match on August 27 in Dubai featuring Sri Lanka vs. Afghanistan. The following day, also at the Dubai International Stadium, will have India taking on Pakistan.
The schedule was shared by Asian Cricket Council chief Jay Shah on Twitter.
Following the instability in Sri Lanka, the competition, which was originally scheduled to be contested there, was relocated to the UAE a few days ago. The final and ten of the thirteen games are scheduled to be played in Dubai, with the remaining three games to be played in Sharjah.
Group A will consist of India, Pakistan, and a qualifier, while Group B will consist of Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. There is a good likelihood that at least another India-Pakistan matchup will occur in the second round as the top-two teams from each group will go on to play in a "Super 4" round. On September 11, the conclusion will take place.
