You might have heard so much about 5W’s in English. If I am not wrong, those 5Ws are “What”, “Where”, “Who”, “Why”, & “When.” These five W’s are the five most important questions, by which use you can end up writing a story, or a report or anything meaningful and impactful. The practices of 5 W’s are in writing of digital press releases to showcase your products or to increase brand awareness and reach the maximum number of people. Just like 5W’s in writing, there are 5V’s in data analytics, that help to understand data in a much better way, bringing more clarity.

ExcelR Data Analyst Course

Do you see yourself as a data analyst in the future, and want to make you come true? Keep reading this article towards the end to get yourself clear on one of the typical concepts in data analytics. The 5 V’s in data analytics and they are:

1.Volume
2.Velocity
3.Variety
4.Veracity
5.Value

Volume

If we see data as a pyramid, the important data or the data has more weights are at the base of the pyramid, The volume of data that companies manage to skyrocket around 2011, is when they began collecting more than five million pieces of data. Because the volume itself is a huge amount of data. To determine the value of data, the size of data plays a very crucial role. If the volume of data is too big, then it is called as the big data. This means whether the data is to be called the big data or not is determined by the volume of data.

Velocity

The velocity refers to the high-speed accumulation of data. Because when we consider big data, data flow from everywhere like from various social media channels, blogs, articles, e-statements, emails, mobiles, digital cameras, personal computers, laptops, etc, etc. The flow of data is massive and continuous, which decides whether it could meet the growing demand or not.

Variety

The variety as the name, it deals with the variety of data that are present in three different formats, they are structured data, semi-structured data, and the last unstructured data. This refers to the heterogeneous sources

Veracity

It refers to the inconsistency and uncertainty of data which means the available data, can be messy or complicated and the accuracy is very difficult to control. The big data itself is a variable because of the multitudes of data dimensions resulting from various data types and sources.

Value

After going through all the four values in the account, the last V that is left out is non-other than value. The bulk of data having no value is no use for a company or the corporate. Therefore, value is the most important and crucial in data processing.

Conclusion

Every data analyst has to go through all these five processes for data processing. Without these five there is no meaning of data processing.
