The increasingly growing demand for professions related to the IT sector has generated a strong interest from government and educational entities, which see in the growth of this activity, a great opportunity for the economic development of the South American region.


This sustained growth in the demand for technology professionals has led the industry itself to redouble its efforts to cover it: remote work takes center stage and allows crossing barriers, preventing professionals dispersed in larges countries from having to move and work hundreds of miles from their homes and families.

The emergence of new work modalities has captured the attention of society in general, where traditional jobs are beginning to be digitized and require the incorporation of professionals who can develop and maintain software solutions.

However, South American countries demand more than double the professionals they generate. For this reason, it is essential to encourage interest in computer careers in young students who, if they knew them, would undoubtedly choose them.
South America has four great advantages that facilitate and promote the development of the software industry:

* First, the time zone. We have an unmatched geographical virtue that allows us to work in real time with clients and companies in the United States and some countries in Mediterranean and Western Europe. This places us in a privileged position compared to other countries with a strong software industry, like India for instance.

* Second, but related to the first one, cultural closeness to the United States is another of the indisputable benefits. South America is extremely diverse, each country has its own identity, but there is a cultural affinity that unites all the countries that make it up. This favors a fluid exchange and teamwork with countries that are the cradle and home of the most important technological centers in the world.

* Third, it is necessary to name education: good educational quality gives us every year professionals with a high level of training in technological areas.

* And last but not least, our region has a better English level compared to countries like India or Pakistan.

This allows progress not only in technical and technological knowledge of the profession, but also in learning the processes that govern those industries to which we provide computer services. This constant learning is one of the main motivations that enhance daily work and keep it away from monotony.

Regarding the insufficient talent to meet the demand, the ECLAC recommends that through the creation, transfer and diffusion of new technologies; highly qualified technical-professional jobs can be created, which can directly or indirectly stimulate the entry of young people to technical careers, increasing the base of local human resources, capable of interpreting the specific needs of each country and community and creating solutions more suitable; and the export of services.

It also points out that its applications are crucial for better performance in multiple areas: government, health, education, security, commerce, banking, the productive sector, creation and cultural diffusion, among others.

In addition to requiring continuous innovations that solve their demands and projects, they need to provide responses in accordance with the sensitivities, interests and needs of various social groups; in other words, they require programming focused on the tastes and needs of users.

Similarly, the development of new products, the expansion of markets and the transformation of business models give rise to unprecedented cooperation strategies and the emergence of a new generation of entrepreneurs, among which the participation of more women could be encouraged.
