The 12 best beach towns to visit near Philly this summer

If you have actually ever invested the summer season in Philly, you know it fumes. Like, unbearably hot. Luckily, us city slickers don't have to suffer through the sweat with a lots plus beaches at our disposal. Within simply two hours of the city limits, touch down on the warm sand, wooden boardwalks, and salty waves. For our list of the best beaches near Philadelphia, keep reading!

Brigantine

The first stop on our list is Brigantine Beach. Just a little over an hour outside of Center City, Brigantine is the closest beach to Philadelphia. Little in size, this beach is the best area for a fast day trip from Philly.

When you're not absorbing the sun and saltwater, pop over to the Brigantine Historic Museum for a look into the previous or grab some regional produce from the Brigantine Farmers Market.

Margate

Another close-by spot, Margate is best known for Lucy the Elephant, a six-story elephant-shaped monument, constructed of wood and tin sheeting and the oldest making it through roadside tourist destination in America.

Margate City is simply one hour and ten minutes from Philly making it a no-brainer to visit on the hottest days of the summertime. From Congo Falls experience golf to surf camps, there's great deals of fantastic things to do in Margate. Sea Isle City

A Philly favorite, Sea Island City is a little beach town right beside Ocean City. Accentuated by a beachfront promenade, loaded with stores and cafés, the beach is not the only tourist attraction in this charming beach town. If water sports are your thing, the area has designated beaches for kayaking, kiteboarding, rafting, and surf fishing.

After a long day of browse and sun, take pleasure in a fast piece from Uncle Oogies or a seafood feast from Mike's Seafood and Dock Dining Establishment. If you're seeking to keep the fun going all night, the bar and club scene is not too shoddy either!

Ocean City, New Jersey

The best destination for a family holiday, Ocean City New Jersey boasts a range of amusement parks, a boardwalk, and mini golf courses. Emphasis on its family-friendly nature, Ocean City is a dry town, meaning no alcohol of any kind offered within its borders.

Dating from 1833, Turkey Point Lighthouse is the crown gem of the peninsula, providing views of Chesapeake Bay, and Northeast and Elk rivers.

While this state park does not contain standard accommodations, it provides more than 250 camping areas, along with some cabins.

Avalon

Among the more upscale beaches of the Jersey Coast, Avalon's beaches are exceptionally tidy, jutting out into the ocean a mile farther than any of the other Jersey beach towns.
