Cannon attempts to help the reformed ex-con he put away years before when the man is coerced into masterminding a bank heist.
When "The Island Caper" begins, a group of crooks (headed by James Olson) approaches an ex-con (Keenan Wynn). They want him to join them for a caper, but the ex-con is happy in his life and wants nothing to do with prison, so he declines. However, they aren't about to take NO for an answer and make it very clear that if he doesn't participate, he or his new wife will suffer.

A short time later, Cannon is approached by folks who will be transporting a large cache of money to Catalina--the same place where the ex-con lives. They are worried that so much money makes it a very attractive target for crooks and they pay Cannon to provide a good security plan. Cannon's path brings him to the ex-con--and Cannon wants to help the guy, not hassle him. However, when it becomes clear the guy is involves with this gang, what will he and Quincy do?

Despite Catalina Island being only about 20 miles from LA, it's very surprising it wasn't used more as a location shoot for TV. I can only recall a few times when it was used--such as on "Quincy" and a recent episode of "Ellen". But, it provided a nice change of pace. As for the plot, it was good and quite enjoyable throughout. Worth seeing.
