Dont listen to these negitive reviews. This is a really fun game. Of course it does need some work to flesh out the bugs and animations but besides that its defentally worth the $10 price tag. Sword Master VR is a arena game where you unlock equiptment by beating levels. Now that sounds alright and is fun. Right before you beat it in less then an hour.
While it is possible to retry levels with different equiptment, its all the same.
The same enimies spawn in the same locations every time you do the level and once you learn that you only have to play offensivly the whole time, it's dead easy.
All the attack patterns are the same and there are very few levels.
If the developers added something like movement into the game or different attack patterns for the game then it might be good.. I love swords in VR and went looking for a good swordfighting simulator. So far, I don't think Sword Master is one of those. I know the game is cheap, but still I've been kinda disappointed. The gameplay is simplistic and gets difficult in the wrong ways.

I imagined this would be a game where you have to develop your swordfighting skills against enemies that are increasingly better at wielding their swords. Instead, Sword Master quickly gets more difficult by throwing more enemies at you at the same time, and those enemies get bigger and have bigger shields. That seems somewhat unfair, considering that you have to stand in the middle of two or three guys going at you. Fortunately, though, I learned that I could take down even a huge enemy by doing a repeated stabbing or twirling motion instead of finding the best place or time to strike a blow. The enemies don't seem to be able to defend themselves against simple mashing. Maybe that's why the game makes you fight more than one of them at the same time.

So far I've played through almost all the Novice levels. Maybe the gameplay will change at some point. Just know that if you decide to play this, you might get frustrated early on. Graphics-wise, the game is not that pretty. The swords look cool but the player models are strange, with limbs that look deformed. Yeah, I know, only 10 bucks...but whatever.

On the plus side, it's a decent workout.

I think that this could potentially be a good game, if it encouraged the player to do some actual swordfighting against one (okay, maybe two) opponent at a time.. Game is fantastic, but the play area is FAR bigger than what you likely have in real life. I have a 3mx3m or MORE space and it still so easy to hit the wall and break a controller. You're left standing in the middle of the room waiting for the guys to lunge at you before you can attack. It's very frustrating because you really want to advance on your enemy, but you'll hit the wall if you do that.. Hit boxes are also a little bit off, it seems.
Huge potential, but unless the developer makes the game area smaller, I just cannot recommend this game.. It's a lot like GORN, except more serious and way harder. But, if it's a lot like GORN, why am I giving a negative review?

Three reasons:
1 - Sound effects are sub par and get annoying quickly.
2 - Enemies like to spasm and strike through themselves in a way that can't be blocked intentionally.
3 - The last update for this game was AGES ago, and that's my biggest issue.

If the developer continued to refine and improve this product, I would 100% recommend it. It's a good game, and it'll definitely give you a workout and scratch that VR Swordplay itch better than anything else out there (even GORN). I just can't bring myself to recommend something that the developer seems to have abandoned. Last update I saw was the Shields update, which was great, but the game still doesn't have enough polish.
