one of my most favorite games ive ever played on nintendo ds. Oh my god this game was my childhood back on the DS. To find out that it was back and that Taito wasn't a dead corporation was one of the best things I've heard all year. The visuals have been touched up and the audio has been remastered and it makes the game so much better! Controls were simple and easy to understand. I've recieved no frame-drops, no lag, no nothing! This game runs smooth af! I love this. I love everything about this. Get this game. It is WORTH EVERY PENNY.

I really hope that Taito will remaster Space Invaders Extreme 2 and put that on Steam as well!. fun as hell. Bring back your space invaders memories with flashy explosions and twitchy sounds. If you loved Space Invaders back then, then you'll fall in love again with this one too. Just play it.. tl;dr: Me telling devs to make the game harder and add mouse controls

I was thinking about some stuff, and, not to be rude to the devs, but I thought "What makes me hate this remake?" It was how easy it was. Stage 4 boss sucked but with some minor changes it would be okay (slightly lowering the boss to make it less rng dependent). New music was good, I could deal with 5B and 5C was great when listened to in game. But it was so goddamn easy, broken in some places too (invaders in wheel formations didn't spin).

Once you can consistently beat 5A on the DS, the game's a ♥♥♥♥ing cakewalk until 5D, and even then, it's easier than DS. Why's it so easy on PC? Paddle controller. I believe this game was made with the DS and paddle controller in mind. The PSP version was basically a copy and paste with a few mods, but since there was no paddle controller, it was ♥♥♥♥ing brutal, like most people know by playing with the D-Pad on DS. So they compensated by making this game the equivalent of New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe Battle Royale.

So I have an idea: Emulate the paddle controller. Make the game harder. Make the mouse a control option. Left click fire, right click hold weapon. It would be great, and it would solve a lot of my issues with the original DS game. You could keep the current game as an easy mode or a controller/keyboard mode. Mouse controls and a few engine changes (make the wheel waves work, make the invaders that come down when shot faster like the DS, bring the teleporting invaders closer to the cannon) would make this the definitive version of the game in my opinion.

A few other improvements could be making gameplay more DS or PSP styled, I'm not asking for fangame level customization but an overhaul of the game to allow for round/boss transitions to double the playable screen size vertically could be very good and I would enjoy the game more if I could restore the old Stage 4 boss as it was quite inventive, and a great spin on the mechanics of the game.

I will sometimes still play this as it's the definitive way of listening to the soundtrack, but for me right now it's basically an interactive song. I would definitely reccommend buying the game if these changes were implemented, and it could be the thing bringing the game from "obscure mindless fun or something idk" to "A game that rewards skill with a fantastic spectacle, with slightly Earthbound-esque backgrounds in stages, and music that transitions seamlesstly as you play, as well as sound effects that both sound like part of the song and complete it, completely destroying AM2R's sound design. The game will actually make you care about scores, too. The live scoreboard was a great addition to the game and getting your name on there feels like a genuine display of skill... etc."

Well, we had quite a battle at the weekend!
I thought TaosukeFox had clinched it with their 3.9m score, but then wr01r came in at 4m+ and an even higher score of 4.2m near the end, but fogg_manatic snuck in at the end with a staggering 5 million points! mtyankovich in 3rd climbed from 3m to over 4m, securing themelves 3rd place overall.

The full game saw a score rush too, perhaps most impressive of all being sciencer0122 managing to top their own previous number 1 score! However, equally impressive were out 2nd and 3rd entries who lept from the 2m point mark to well over 3m, securing themselves top placing!
