Six hints on how to get your house ready for sale

There have been some concerns about the global pandemic and how it will affect your home sale. While we have seen a decrease in sales in the Winnipeg market, we have also noticed a decrease in the number of listings being added to the market. The current market environment makes it important to differentiate your home from your competition. You may have to put some capital into preparing your house for sale, but the investment will lead to a quicker turnaround. The following tips will make your Bridgewater Winnipeg Real Estate for buyers more appealing.

1) Declutter. Your house can be filled with personal pieces and memorabilia. You may collect art or antiquities, movie posters or toys, dolls, etc. While these items may be beautiful to you, before showing your home to potential buyers, you need to get rid of them. Potential buyers in your home want to envision themselves in the home, so having too many distractions takes away from their experience.

Remove anything not necessary for everyday living and remove the packed things from your Bridgwater Winnipeg Real Estate. It is fine to use the garage for storage, so long as you can pile everything neatly and allow people to still see the space.
Don't leave unwashed dishes or utensils, shoes, laundry, etc. out. Try to imagine that your house is a hotel or a bed and breakfast and make it as appealing as possible to a wide array of buyers. No one would be happy to see signs of previous tenants thrown about a hotel room.

2) Eliminate any signs of pets. We are not saying to conceal or hide the fact that pets live in the home, rather we are saying to reduce the number of reminders that pets do live in the home. You may love your animals, but people that don’t own pets or aren’t pet lovers will be turned off by fur, slobber, smells, etc. Animals, after all, are messy (but worth it – we ARE animal lovers).

3) Strong colors may appear claustrophobic on walls and/or ceilings, particularly dark colors. If appropriate, repaint rooms with a more neutral color scheme. This doesn’t mean you have to repaint the entire house. The most value will be received for the main living areas. Consult with your Realtor to get painting color recommendations. Neutral colors make it easier for customers to envision how the rooms would look when decorated to their own tastes.

4) Make your bed! It is also worth having a matching bed and pillow coverings. Curtains or sheets should be light and airy, and bonus points if they match bed-dressings!

5) Switch on all lights, including bedside lamps. Especially now. The less that buyers have to touch, the better. A well-lit home is warm, welcoming, and inviting.

6) Replace family pictures on the walls with impersonal photographs, such as landscape or nature prints. This can be as simple as using Google to find some pretty landscapes and putting them overtop the pictures already in the frames!
