Where to begin? I saw this on the Jimquisition, and thought, Hold on now, that's pretty cool! I bought the game myself, (The Ambrosia edition) and started it up. First let me say the Easy mode was alright, definitely wasn't easy with the Team AI forgetting to revive me, though granted for the life of me I could not revive them, even smashing the E key. Recommend an Xbox 360 Controller.
Granted I needed to tinker the game a bit to simply get through the easy mode (Cause I like playing for story and setting) but rest assured it is still a challenging enemy force, and the power conduit towers have triple health I bloody swear.
I disagree with Jim Sterling on that note, this game was actually very enjoyable, I liked the choose your character and the setting was vibrant. Though if you happen to keep the pistol (And it comes in handy) you'll need it cause jimmy-four legs is immune to rocket fire and I'm pretty sure only half the shotgun blast affects him.
I played as Shade, though granted as some will note the game does feel like it lacks length and really story depth, now I might play EP 1 and 2 to see more. But Nogari felt more like a backdrop than an acting faction, which ultimately undermines it.
Long story short I recommend it, its fun with it's enviroments, it's NOT a AAA title, and if they make a sequel I will be interested. But the drawback is the villain feels rushed and the story is anything but long which honestly robs it of being good.

Seemingly infinite spawning enemies coupled together with dumb AI make this Gears of War style game boring and tedious to play. I've had instances of AI companions trying to heal me by running in front of an enemy turret. Enemies are made to soak up bullets making for unsatisfying gunplay and have the added bonus of infinite grenade spam. Pouring thirty rounds into an enemy only to see it jump and incapacitate my character left me unimpressed. In some cases I could fire 200 rounds into an enemy and not kill it. Possibly, that specific enemy is headshot only.

This game also has weird balance issues and a lot of jankiness to it. Some of it looks genuinely hilarious like vaulting over cover or the sprinting animation. The balance issues are more frustrating though. The AI has the benefit of having infinite or some regenerating Ambrosia (the stuff for your powers) while players need to stand next to barrels of the liquid. Those barrels can be destroyed, deliberately or on accident which is less than ideal and also less fun.

There was also this one fight with a second plane where you had to stick grenades to it, but the lack of grenade arcs makes the it frustrating; my friend and I spent a good fifteen minutes just lobbing sticky grenades and sometimes they would make it.

I can't recommend this game for a single player experience. Maybe try the Resident Evils, Just Cause 2, Hitman: Blood Money, Tomb Raider 2013, Sleeping Dogs, the GTAs, or Saints Row IV for a third-person experience. I suppose you could look into Spec Ops: The Line, Binary Domain (some rough boss fights), Inversion (no co-op, possibly bad), or even Dizzel (f2p Early Access multiplayer game) for that more GoW feel.

Otherwise, have friends for Scourge. Do not rely solely on this game's AI. I tried it single player and my team mate's behavior is a constant crap shoot. I highly recommend bringing in at least one friend if you going to play this game. That way, the AI can go around using their infinite ammo and powers while you two actually complete goals. Play with a human, please.

PS. Best hacking minigame EVER.. Daft AI makes solo play frustrating.. This is a really good game.I would highly recommend it.. The game might be a bit short compared to other games and the multiplayer part is just a regular addon, but the game is an underrated gem with a really fair price and enough attention from the developers. I am hoping for a sequel!. The team AI is my biggest complaint, I've had to restart plenty of missions just because they decide to all stand on a grenade and leave me unable to revive them before getting killed. It's made me give up on it a few times, but this isn't that bad if you're really bored, I'm sure this is WAY better playing with friends (if you have friends which would not find this boring) Story isn't anything original or unexpected, cobbled together typical archetypes, a leader, a big tank with a heart of gold, an edgy mysterious loner, and the obligatory strong female to make people happy. Second biggest complaint is the couple of bosses where you have to throw grenades at aircraft, you have an infinite box of grenades and have to just keep throwing them and hoping the aircraft is near enough when they explode (not just up to timing your release) while guns do nothing, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You can't throw grenades very far and it seems like a cheap way to make battles longer and nothing else. Worth getting in a bundle I think, you could do worse. Probably really fun with others but not in my single player experience

[update: after beating the campaign, it has an extremely unsatisfying "conclusion", if it can even be called that. Some of the worst writing I've ever seen. Not the fault of any of the other artists working on this, I think they did a great job, but the story and actual gameplay are terrible. ]. Surprisingly, i liked this game and it was better than i expected it to be. The combat is fun, i didn't get bored killing enemies unlike some games. There are even special abilities you can use. The game somewhat reminds me of Mass Effect. The story of this game seems to be going well. This game sounds great, looks great and plays great. I did encounter some minor bugs but nothing that causes a problem. The graphics are decent as well. All in all, the game is pretty good and i would rate it 7/10.

P.S. I have only played Single Player till now cause i couldn't find any active players. Something tells me the Multiplayer experience will be a lot better. But heck, I'll finish it in Single Player if i have to cause it's totally worth it.
