insulting DLC...

i was positive. but, i changed.
Why :

- DLC 1 : useless - it's a remake - so not a quality new content
- DLC 2 : useless - it's a remake - no bust... - so not a quality new content
- DLC 3 : first impression : "WOW Great". I tried one week to use it. And the tileset was not tested. Pixel pb... the perspective is really bad (due to the tracks being only one tile wide). 1 month delayed to deliver.

- DLC 4 : ten month after... we are waiting for it.

I request answer on officiel forum. Subject closed with no answer. Great support men !!

so. conclusion : negative. I only bought the pass to add children in the game, and well, I'm pretty disappointed with the lack of additions, and here's why:

While a few new hairstyles were added, the rest are just resized to fit a child character (Not too upset with this, as it did just cut out a LOT of hours I was going to spend doing that myself)
There's still only one face for male/female children
Only one pair of glasses
Not many accessories
No cloaks
No wings
No tails
No beast ears

It's like you went to the effort to make more options for children, and then just gave up halfway and said "Good enough I guess".

I'd attempt to refund this, but like I said, you did cut down on the majority of the hours I'd have spent readjusting models that are already in the game to begin with. Now I just have to spend time finishing that resizing and adjusting job you guys did with the things you decided to skip over. I mean come on, why would anybody just want normal human children? They're BORING. I want beast children that I can create stories for, about how they trip people with their tails, or are part monkey and good at climbing, or some angelic race that flies, and has CHILDREN WITH WINGS.. [Please note: This review was made before the DLC was changed to Add-on Pack. as such, the review was made during the time the Add-on Pack DLC was called the Season Pass.]

What is a Season Pass? What does it cover? I've seen a lot of Season Passes at my time playing games, and this one disappoints me.

Unlike other Season Passes, which I've had my share of by seeing my brother buy a Season Pass for a couple of games on both the PS3 and PS4, A Season Pass is supposed to cover DLC pertaining to the Season Pass. This one kind of does, but doesn't at the same time. Out of the four packs, only ONE is truely covered by the Season Pass, yet the DLC pack that's also in the store for a price isn't listed as purchased, meaning I can literally buy the covered DLC twice if I'm not too careful. The other three DLC packs aren't even in the store separately and buying the Season Pass is the only way to getting them. And it's the only way to have Kid Generator Parts as well.

I'm not too disappointed in this pass, but I am mostly disappointed by it. It doesn't actually cover a lot of DLC Packs in the store, but one (and it's not listed as purchased), and it has three packs that aren't even for sale separately. Kadokawa may need to take notes with Bandai Namco Games, or other Season Pass sellers to see how a Season Pass should work.. I purchased this in advance hoping to get some really good new and original work for MV. Instead the first release is a very minor remix of old work from RM 2000.

For those of us that already own 2000 as well this is a totally worthless addition. I could have converted the 2000 music myself, remixed it and because of owning 2000 had the same commercial rights but have all of the music. This really does look like the freebie Wednsday work they have been giving to try and get the content up which makes me wonder why it took so long for them to release this.

A long awaited first 1/4 of my advanced purchase and officially regret purchasing this package.

I can not recommend purchasing this for anyone that owns RM 2000. This addon is contains no real value to us which means if the next three are $10 as they said then it'll be the same price as purchasing the season pass. Better to wait and see if the rest is any good and just buy the pieces you want.

For those that do not own 2000 already I'd sooner recommend just waiting for the next sale and purchasing an older RM version. I got a ton of them during the birthday bash sale and got rights to a LOT of music I can convert (which is easy) for less than this portion of the pack by itself. At 80% off I got all of 2003 for $4 which was well worth the money.

Please do not mistake this recommendation as anything against MV. I LOVE MV, I just think giving us 10 retro song remixes from 2000 as the first long awaited installment to our prepaid season pass is kind of insulting.. -- UPDATED --
Now that the third DLC is released, I felt it suitable to update my opinion on this pack.

Firstly, I give this pack a recommendation because - in truth, the content provided is of great quality. The pack itself is lack-luster, but the actual quality is great overall.

Now my actual opinion;
I paid the full price for this pack when it was first announced. I always have a trust in content when I buy stuff like this and originally, I thought the Season Pass would actually be a coordinated pack. When a pack is released with "characters, tiles and music" is sounds like a starter pack - atleast to me.

When the first DLC was released - The 2K Remaster Soundtrack - I felt upset. Not because of quality, but because it was a remaster. The Season Pass doesn't state anything about remasters or any previous engine, so this is immediately interpreted as "original content" is what we would get. We got 10 remaster tracks instead.

The second DLC was later released. Again, a remaster of old 2K heroes. The older characters were defined by their class design (soldier in armour, mage in robes, ect.) so the way these characters work, I had also expected some Gen Parts so we could also re-create these classe sin our own games.

Now that the third DLC is released however, I felt even more surprised than ever. We got a steampunk tileset. What? We were provided old RPG music, and then old RPG characters, and suddenly we are given a completely different themed tileset?
Ontop of that, it's one set. Unless your making a steampunk trainstation your a game based entirely in a steampunk themed train, this tileset pack would be useles to you. Even the extra NPC sprites are steampunk era - completely opposite to the previous Sprite DLC last time so you can't use them together without a major clash in timelines.

I am curious about the "Surprise DLC" but I cannot get hyped for it.
Alot of my thoughts were assumptions, but after the second DLC Sprite pack, I assumed we were getting 2K tilesets to match the previous 2 sets, and we got a competely different theme altogether. I'm not sure how to implement that.

If you are a new developer starting out - this is not the pack for you as it doesn't provide the essentialls you would think you get. My only demand is in future, I hope they are more open about what these DLC's will contain instead of "buy and see".

TL;DR: The pack quality is good, but the content doesn't match. Don't buy if you are a new developer wanting to get a "starter pack" as this is not it. I hope to see actual detailing in future packs like this instead of a "buy and see what you get" pack.

I recommend this pack simply because the quality is great. I refuse to leave a negative review simply because my personal standards weren't met. They never stated this pack to be remasters and a mix of different themes - but they also never said it wouldn't be. I just highly recommend waiting till the individual packs are released and buy what you need instead of buying a clashing pack.. I wish I could recommend this. I love season passes! I love RPG Maker assets! But this one is lackluster. When I see the other content they are releasing for MV, this pack just falls flat. I would not have gotten the season pass had I known 50% of the pass would be remastered content from older engine versions.

-----

Of the four packs, one has been released, the second previewed. The first was 10 remastered tracks from previous RPG Maker engines and 100 sound effects. Would have preferred something more unique (like, say, the Heist pack that just came out on Steam). But hey, I'm not a music person!

The preview for the second pack underwhelmed me too. More remastered content from older engines. Characters, including side view battle sprites, are cool but with the character creator I can already make endless variations of characters. The portraits and busts would be the big draw except the art style did not impress me _at all._

The third will be a tile set pack, the fourth is a “surprise,” according to the Kadokawa peeps. If the remaster trend continues the next pack will be redone tiles from older engines. I already have a great selection of fantasy tilesets, both built in content and on the web in general… Would love to see steampunk, shadowrun-styled sets, or things like “demon village” or “celestial alien’s ship.” But I do like wacky things...

I will update this review if, by the last release, I feel like it’s worth it. But, as it stands, each pack will be 10 dollars standalone and the season pass is 30, so unless all four packs light your fire then you're better off only getting the ones you want.. Why are all these DLC's out and I can't get them for free when I have the season pass?
