Renault Triber AMT adds more to the joy of driving.

I hail from a small village near Aurangabad, Maharashtra. After my father retired, he chose to settle in our ancestral village and farm on the land we owned there. After my college, I moved out to Mumbai for my job, but I made it a point to visit our village every year for Diwali.

This year was no different except for one thing. I had bought a new Renault Triber AMT and decided to drive down to our village with my family for Diwali. It was a distance of about 400 kms and given the fact that the road passes through a lot of small towns and villages, I knew the journey would take me close to 8 hours.

My father advised me not to drive down as constant shifting of gear and clutch through multiple heavy traffic patches would wear me off, but I was adamant. Fortunately, my wife is also an enthusiastic driver, so she supported my decision to drive down. More than the driving pleasure, I wanted to show my latest car to my folks back home!

My wife used to hate driving my older sedan due to its manual transmission. Constant shifting of gears and clutch used to put her off. Even when we used to travel for 3-4 hours for our weekend vacations, she would rarely express her desire to drive.

But once she drove her colleague’s Renault Triber AMT, she was completely smitten by it. That evening she came back home and detailed out what had happened.

Her colleague was 6 months pregnant and had started feeling unwell in the office. Worried for her, my wife offered to take her to her doctor rather than send her in a taxi. This colleague had a Renault Triber AMT.

As my wife approached the car, she was impressed by the compact design. Then when she got into the driver’s seat, she was impressed with the clear outside view and the spacious interiors. This was very different from our sedan.

Then when she saw the dashboard that had a 20.32 cm touchscreen and the LED instrument cluster, she was impressed by the smart interiors of the car. But what impressed her the most was the AMT drive of the Renault Triber. The moment they got out of the parking lot of their office, they hit a traffic jam. My wife was relieved that she need not bother and change to a higher or lower gear as they began crawling in the traffic. The Renault Triber AMT had a powerful AC that cooled the car almost instantly, putting her colleague at ease. She realized that the back rows had separate AC vents. This meant that passengers there would be comfortable as well.

While my wife was admiring the car, her colleague spotted it out and said “Do you know about the modular seating arrangement of the Renault Triber and also its removable rear seats? While the modular seating arrangement converts the car into a 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7-seater within seconds, the removable rear seat converts the seating area into a cargo bay, all within seconds!”

That was the last straw!
By the time my wife dropped off her colleague and reached back home, she had made up her mind. She came home and explained to me what had happened and insisted that we book a test drive of the Renault Triber AMT. Out of compulsion, I checked out the car, but after the test drive, I was equally impressed with the car and booked it instantly.

By the time we reached our village, it was late in the afternoon and my father had just returned home.

“I had told you not to drive down, but you won’t listen to me, do you?” he thundered the moment he saw me getting down my car.
“Dad, let me take you for a ride in my new car. Here, take the keys and you drive” I handed over the keys to him.
Not knowing how to reply, he unwillingly took the keys from me and got into the driver’s seat. Not surprisingly, history repeated itself!

By the time we reached back home, he was as impressed by the Renault Triber AMT as my wife had been a couple of months ago.
Finally, he got out of the car and asked me just one question “How much?”

“The Renault Triber AMT range starts at just Rs. 6.70 lakh* (ex. Showroom Delhi)” I replied.
He gave back the key to me and said “Ok. Let’s book one for me too!”

That was probably the first time in my life my father had emulated me. I was happy that not only had he liked my Renault Triber AMT but was even getting one for himself.

Later in the evening, he came to me and said “Don’t think I liked the car because you drive one. When Sarika (my wife) told me about your decision to drive down, I wasn’t very happy. But then she explained to me about you’re the AMT feature, I was convinced about it.”

I was happy that the Renault Triber AMT was making our lives easier.
