The radio station entered into an alliance with Televisa in 1965 to sell its formats to other stations across Mexico. It began selling these formats to stations in Mexico in 1983. It began operating Cadena Radio Centro in 1986, an Spanish-language radio station. It expanded its operations in 1995, adding three AM and five FM stations to the country. In 2001, Radio Cento became the second media company to put FM towers on Cerro del Chiquihuite. In 2001, it partnered with Venta and Grupo Siete, but in 2004 it was forced to pull out following Univision's El Paso Cluster acquired it.

Televisa terminated the agreement in 2000. The radio station was later purchased by Cadena Tres, Venta, then by media companies TV Azteca, Univision's El Paso Cluster, and then by Cadena Tres. On December 10 the alianza was dissolved and a commercial over 92.1 FM in CDMX was launched by Radio Centro. The combination of both radio stations on the same frequency was followed by.

Following the merger with Televisa Radio Centro, Centro's ownership changed. In 1996, the company acquired the Argentinean Media Group (TV Azteca). It also introduced Cadena FM, a new FM station. It also broadcasts music on its new outlets.

The agreement with Televisa lasted for only a few months. The new alliance with the alianza was canceled following the fact that Radio Centro failed to reach 30 percent of the market. Later, TV Azteca and Grupo Siete syndicated the format. Eventually, the company was bought by Cadena Tres and Venta, which continued its acquisition. It is now operated and owned by more than 30 radio stations across the United States.

The merger with Televisa resulted in the creation of an entirely new radio station which was later changed to Radio Centro Radio Centro. The radio station is owned by Grupo CRX and owns 45 radio stations in Mexico. Along with XEQR-AM 1030 and XERC-FM 790 in Mexico City, the company also owns four AM stations in Mexico City's capital city. It is the second media firm in the country to construct FM towers, but the merger was not completed until recently.
