QuickBooks point of sale system performs many essential functions ranging from the accounting process to data processing. It also assists the small and medium businessman in a day to day bookkeeping processes. But, at times it falls prey to technical glitches QuickBooks Error 176103 which says – ‘Unable to Activate product’.

When & Why does the Error 176103 Occur?
This Error occurs during the installation of QuickBooks Point of Sale or when QuickBooks Point of Sale desktop is being validated. It is a type of registry issue. It occurs in case one or more of the following reasons are present:

The computer setting with respect to date and time may not be correct.
The authentication code filled in at the time of updating a Point of Sales Desktop copy may be wrong.
The preceding version of the CD has not been inserted when requested while being registered.
Damaged/Corrupted entitlement of QuickBooks Point of Sale software.
Invalid license number has been inputted in the Point of Sales software.

1 – Fix system date and time
System tray – Choose change date and time setting after right clicking on date and time display. Update the correct date and time in the system under this tab.
Control Panel – Hit the windows and R keys, Enter control and press OK. Select Date and time under the Clock, Language and Region tab in the control panel. Update the correct date and time here.

2 – Validate the authentication code
Recheck the authentication code entered in the system. It should be free of any hyphens or spaces. If there is some confusion, the user can contact QuickBooks Point of Sales tech support to reconfirm the code.

3 – Delete Intuit Entitlement Folder Contents
Look for C:\Program Data\ Intuit \ Entitlement Client \ v8. Then delete the files present in the folder by selecting all the available files in the folder by pressing Ctrl + A. Now there would be no glitches in the registration process.

4 – Clean Reinstall for QuickBooks Point of Sale
Uninstall the Program – Open Computer window by pressing Windows + E, hit uninstall or change a program and select Point of sale.
Rename and delete all Point of Sales folders – Copy and paste POS data folder, add old at the end of this folder and any duplication is avoided.
Delete the QBPOSDBSrvUser account located in user accounts under the control panel.
Reinstall Point of Sales
Reinstate company files by creating a new one with a desirable name and restore the back up in this. Once that is done, verify the data set and connections before re-registering the QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sales.
