The following prayers can be said immediately upon death and can be repeated for hours afterward. When family members gather around a body first, either before or after preparations for burial, all or part of the following prayers may be used.

The Catholic religion has several distinctive prayers that are established, which are also significant, and are said in a Rosary, along with the “Our Father”. Certainly, there are Catholic religious prayers, and according to the church, prayers are dialogues between God and human beings. While Spanish and Latin American cultures can find solace and joy in many common prayers from the Roman Catholic faith, they have prayers specific to their traditions and practices.

When choosing a Spanish prayer for the deceased, of course, it is important to take into account the cultural aspects of the prayer, and the communities of which your loved one who has died is part. Consider prayers that are meaningful to your departed loved one, but also ones that are meaningful to their culture and community. You might even want to select a prayer that is related to hobbies and interests that person had throughout their life.
