Pope Benedict The Sixteenth - Papal Visit To UK

What have Pope Benedict the Sixteenth, Liam McNally and Michelle McManus got in common?

Well, they'll be attending various events for the papal visit to the UK which will start with the Pope touching down at Edinburgh Airport on Thursday 16th September at 10.30am.

Millions across the globe will watch both Liam McNally and Michelle McManus singing live for the Pope, Liam at Hyde Part and Michelle in Glasgow.

Liam McNally, a finalist on the Britain's Got Talent 2010 show will be singing live for Pope Benedict, thousands of pilgrims and millions of global TV viewers. The talented Catholic schoolboy who is just 14 will perform a choral version of the Our Father during the Hyde Park, London prayer service.

Word has it that the Vatican were so impressed with Liam's vocal skills that he was especially chosen to sing at the event and Liam also features on the Pope's Pilgrim CD 'Heart Speaks Unto Heart' singing the Latin 'Panis Angelicus - Bread of Angels' a song in honour of the Holy Eucharist and he does this song good justice.

I have this song playing softly in the background as I type and it sounds like a little sound byte from Heaven!

Liam impressed judges on the TV talent show with his rendition of 'Danny Boy' but lost out in the finals. Liam's manager Dan Waite believes the Hyde Park event could be crucial for Liam's future success, 'It's a huge honour for Liam to perform for the Pope and the global audience' in a Press statement.

Michelle McManus too will be singing her heart out in the Pope's honour as she sings at the Mass for 100,000 pilgrims at Bellahouston Park in Glasgow, Scotland on 16th September Book on American History.

This Mass will be the first state visit Papal Mass ever celebrated in the UK, a profound and historic occasion for British Catholics and especially for the Scottish. (Note - The late and great Pope John Paul came on a pastoral visit not a state visit in 1982).

Michelle is best known for winning ITV's Pop Idol competition in 2003 and is now a popular television presenter. Michelle has worked in Lourdes hospitalite with handicapped children for many years and feels thrilled to sing for the Head of the Church, the Servant of the servants of God, Pope Benedict the sixteenth, 'I am truly honoured to have been asked to perform..what an amazing event to have staged here in our own country and, as a very proud Scot and someone of faith, I am delighted to be involved.'
