Pokémon Sword and Shield: Game Available for Preloading

The Pokémon fans all around the globe have been eagerly waiting for the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield. Well, the fans have more reasons to be excited as Nintendo is letting them get an early download. The game is said to be released on November 15, 2019, and will become Nintendo Switch’s first main Pokémon game.

The pre-loading is live as of October 31; however, the early version will only be available if you have pre-ordered the game on the Nintendo eShop. The option to play Pokémon Sword and Shield will be available on the store page. The game would require 9.5 GB of storage in case you opt for the digital purchase. If you do not have that much free space, then there is nothing to worry about as the game will come out on November 15.

Game Freak and Nintendo have also confirmed that the game would still be missing a cloud save feature. The lack of cloud save started the previous year with Pikachu and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee and Pokémon: Let’s Go not having the feature. It caused some backlash, but Gamer Freak has opted not to add the option yet again. There has not been an official explanation for this, but the most probable cause would be the fear of save manipulation.

Switch has had several mini Pokémon games, but Pokémon Sword and Shield will be the first full-featured Pokémon game not on other portable systems or 3DS. The pre-loading is already live in the US. So what exactly is pre-loading is? Pre-loading means that the gamers can load their game data on the consoles before the game’s release. It saves players the hassle of starting the download at midnight after its release.

The pre-loading is not the only perk you get for pre-orders as there is a code for 12 Quick Balls available as well. Quick Balls are unique Poke Balls that effectively lets you catch Pokémon as soon as the battle starts. The rewards do not stop here as logging on Pokémon Sword and Shield before January 15, 2020, will let you have an unlocked special Gigantamax Meowth.

Sirfetch’d, and Galarian Ponyta is only available in Pokémon Sword and Shield, however, the list of known Pokémon in the game is still unknown. The game will introduce new Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing systems alongside the ability to make special curries for Pokémon. You will also get Galarian Weezing along with evolved forms of Pokémon such as Obstagoon.

The official cover for the game states that your journey will start by selecting one of the three Pokémon; Sobble, Grookey or Scorbunny. You can either create a local team or join in three other online players to fight against Dynamax Pokémon. The synopsis itself sounds exciting, so it will be intriguing to see what the game has to offer. It is needless to say that the expectations are set high for the game. Let us hope that it will stand sturdily on them.
